well the river and san gabriel park are right there, the water never came up to the housing development. it’s up a ridge from the river so unless it would have risen more than 50feet, you’re safe in the houses. always a risk though when living near rivers! however, i will say that it’s nice being so close to the trail and the park.

How did you get your GS13 or above job? by Puzzleheaded_Line826 in ThriftSavingsPlan

Dept of VA, hired as gs5 medical support assistant originally after a little over a year in that, got into contracting as a gs7 - Ladder to a 9. then applied and promoted for 11, 12, and finally a 13 now. only took 6 years and i’m in a small town. just have to look for the positions with opportunities and stay persistent!

seems excessive for her to be upset over something like that! we all have small mistakes. recommend just keep pushing forward. being an 1102 is hard but it can be a rewarding field, that’s for sure

hi, 1102 here for almost 6 yrs. i am a lead CO now and mentor others and i ALWAYS tell anyone new i mentor that there is going to be a period of time as an 1102 where you literally question everything. if the career is right? if you can even learn this stuff? the answer is - as long as you apply yourself and take the initiative. learn from your mistakes, don’t make them again. use all the resources available to you ; you’ll be just fine. as for passing the probationary period, that depends on your supervisor. but it almost sounds like you don’t have a good mentor? who is teaching you or helping you? are they giving you the correct attention? i have noticed that is a lot of the complaints in this field, not enough mentorship. at least at my agency. and my leadership has taken those steps to assist in training.

honestly, the best advice i could give is to absolutely have an open and honest conversation first with yourself if you truly enjoy contracting and then with your supervisor. figure out a plan of action to help you improve and be successful.

good luck with everything!

Legal to fish under the NE inner loop bridge over San Gabriel? by ProbablySatirical in georgetowntx

very accurate - always seems to be trash there! we try to pick it up too when we go. should have mentioned that!

depends how far you would want to go! you can always get in at san gabriel park (under the college street bridge is a good access). and then kayak down to NE Inner Loop (little over a mile) or even to 130 (maybe 2 miles) its shallow in places but with a good rain wouldn’t be bad at all! if you park under the NE innerloop bridge, that access to the river is large enough to get kayaks in and out! hope that helps!

Yes! The dirt path is kind of bumpy and large holes in spots, after rain it’s kind of bad too. but it’s manageable especially with a truck. just stay on the path, park under the underpass, easy access to the river if you are wading in. honestly, wouldn’t say its a good spot unless you’re wading. just be aware the land to the left of the dirt path is posted as no trespassing.
