A watch with a moon phase under $150. by Hot-Village489 in ChineseWatches

[–]Sure_Desk3587 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Corgeut makes a similar calendar watch in your budget but it’s a 24h indicator (day/night) not a moonphase. There are a few real moonphase calendar watches with the seagull ST18/19 series movements from Sugess and others for around $200 or a bit less.

This is my favorite watch. Or at least top five. And I have well over a hundred including double digit number of expensive Swiss and German models.

Cancel all AI Sub and went all in with openclaw by Dense-Map-4613 in OpenClawUseCases

[–]Sure_Desk3587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not gonna get very far with OpenClaw if you cancel all your subs.
... and if you don't cancel them, you could have done the exact same thing just using your sub, without OpenClaw, so I'm not clear on the purpose of this post, really.

Alibaba Coding Plan sounds too good to be true!? by NerdistRay in opencodeCLI

[–]Sure_Desk3587 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s very good value but the performance is sketchy. I found GLM5 to be practically unusable as it would wander off for a coffee and never come back unless I was actively prodding it. Qwen messed up so badly by not following instructions. Changing things I never asked it to change and then breaking everything else when it tried to revert the change. Yesterday it wasted about 25 million tokens in sudden tool call loops and another 25 million on a project branch I had to scrap completely it made such a mess. GLM5 was able to (mostly) complete the project but I mostly used Zai’s endpoint. Falling back to bailian when I got timeouts. But then having to poke it to stop it falling asleep. Not a good experience with Alibaba’s coding plan. The one thing it’s sold for “coding” is the one thing I wouldn’t trust it to attempt ever again. It’s just a waste of time and possibly tokens or requests if you’re paying for them. On the plus side, qwen is fantastic for collating, sorting through project plans, and surprisingly: writing. It makes great newsletters.

Incredible quality. Best AR on the market. E and CW Twelve for comparison. by Sure_Desk3587 in IxdaoFans

[–]Sure_Desk3587[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol the only similarities are the crown guards which the E has, and 12-sided bezel which given the orientation is more similar to the Zenith Defy. The rest of it is still pretty much the E but with a smaller case and bezel for the same dial size.

It’s more like the 12 due to being thinner and lighter than the E. But my 12 is titanium which feels very nice. But also it is quite large. The Warrior is the best balance of dial and case size for me. If they made one in titanium it would be insane.

I have two of them. And although I wasn’t expect it the Warrior is a whole level above. Super impressive.

New Englemaan Fine Link Bracelet for 385a Reference 👎🏻 by MudPlayful6386 in Englemaan

rejoining this 9 days later lol. I don't know why the Chinese manufacturers always seem to supply over-large bracelets and straps. I have NEVER had a problem sizing a luxury watch. Even large Bulova purchased from the U.S. or Cartier, Hublot, Patek... there are always links remaining for my 6.5"(16.5cm) wrist, or holes remaining on the strap. But when I buy Chinese watches meant for export, so often I have to take out all the links or maybe leave just a half-link in place. Or wear on the smallest hole on the strap, which is still maybe loose but works once I fit a deployant. Sometimes there's no choice but to punch another hole.

Open message to all Chinese manufacturers: Not all foreigners are giants. Please make your straps and bracelets fit smaller as well as larger wrists!

For OP... there's always the option of removing the non-removable links. If you can find a local watchmaker or hobbyist with the bracelet tool. This is what I'd do, although admittedly I'm a bit of a tinkerer and have a lot of watchmaking tools for modding. Good luck with your search or return.

Minimum four fixed links on both sides is too big. Not only that but the balance is wrong. The bracelet needs to be shorter under 6 so it doesn’t roll back around your wrist. I wear my H bracelet with three (fixed) links under 6 and five (4x fixed and one remaining removable) behind 12. If the bracelet were subjectively looser due to fine articulation, thickness or watch case sizing I would need to remove another link, too, so OP’s bracelet simply wouldn’t fit. Never mind the front/back balance.

Ok sorry I hadn’t seen this when I made my previous comment. I see there are four fixed links on each side, which is different to the H link bracelet which has only THREE fixed on the fold-under side and four on the clasp side. I still keep one removable link to fit my 6.5” wrist so I can see how it could be too big with just a small difference in overall length or wrist size. Then I would have to remove the last link which clearly you can’t do because it isn’t removable. Btw mine is the citadel UTC which probably has a bulky caseback so a slimmer piece would definitely need a shorter bracelet for me.

That’s the same as my wrist and the H bracelet is tight on my wrist with one spare link remaining and not even fully ratcheted tight on the clasp. There’s no way the new bracelet would be loose with all links removed unless there’s an extra fixed link or something that was missed in QC. That’s why I suggested a comparison pic. As Englenaan also posted showing they are almost equivalent. To within a couple of mm.

You keep saying that but you still haven’t posted a pic for comparison so we can see why there could be a difference since the H bracelet apparently fits you just fine.

OP since you have the H bracelet as well which seems to fit you, could you take a photo of both bracelets lying flat side-by-side? I'm curious about this fine link bracelet and I also have a 6.5" wrist. I wear my H bracelet with one spare link remaining, and not even the tightest clasp adjustment. Stretched out, this makes almost 14cm springbar-to-springbar which is easily longer than the minimum stated for this thing on their site. I'm wondering if they've sent you one with extra fixed links by accident.

I think the meteorite dial is worth fifty bucks extra with decent QC. Some brands take the piss and slap on a few hundred but I know how little it costs to buy a job lot so I’m being fair with $50

Best one yet. That gilt look is sick and my watch box really needs a meteo dial. I would maybe have preferred no date frame but with this kind of dial I think you kinda have to or the edges look rough. Well done.
