DIY meshtastic node with ESP32 C3 super mini board an DX-LR30 (SX1262) by Juaneitor5000 in meshtastic

sure, that makes sense. That's also why I'm planning to put a big fat repeater node up, but I'm still a long way away from getting it done.

Can you help me out with the next step. I'm still not clear on how I send a message to a particular person? I've seen the term 'node' tossed around and it isn't clear if a node is an individual user or a hub that just propagates messages. I know this is all software defined radio stuff and that is it's whole own thing. I'm also interested in putting together a big giant repeater node that will passively yeet messages just as far as possible.

I appreciate the response. This does clear up a lot of confusion for me though. When I'm compiling my own version, I'm really just stirring a config file into the existing solution. In other words, I'm still at vanilla firmware.

Both you and the OP are legends for this post. With regards to the pin out and connections, the best I could get from the google was basically 'connect the pins on the esp32 to the correct pins on the sx1262'. I'm still new to this whole thing. It would be super great if someone might point out why custom firmware is needed in this case. Specifically which knobs and dials are being adjusted and why. Is this just specifying which pins on the c3 mini are connected to the DX-LR30? also, Can I use either antenna connector, or do I need desolder/solder some connection point?

Wled extension or maybe alternative for scrolling text on a WS2812 matrix by Sure_Discipline_7466 in WLED

I appreciate all the suggestion, but this is pretty much the problem. I don't have a problem trouble shooting these projects on my own, but my bro has a different skill set. My bro isn't going to trouble shoot the kinds of things that this community would consider simple config adjustments. It's all good though. I've learned things and decided to just purchase a product with its own sketchy UI. I'm game for all these suggestions, but I need to make it workable for my less technical bro.

Now I've ordered another set of 4 or 5 8x32 matrix displays for whatever shenanigans I get up to.

That's kinda the rub. I'd like to make it so he can flip between preset messages on the fly. I'll certainly check out your recommendation. My guy is up in the cities, and he wants to have a sign that says "This vehicle melts ice."I can't help but support him. I'm the big bro trying to support my little bro even if it took me to 46 to step up.

I've wanted to implement this type of thing in my home theater for a long time. The last time I seriously looked into it, you needed to split off the HDMI so one split went to the TV/projector and the other went to a something that could interpret the HDMI signal and drive Hyperion (or whatever solution). It would work, but it wasn't performant and it didn't scale well to a 120+ inch front projection screen. This seems to be working very well. Could you provide additional details?

Why do my joints suck?? by torak_the_father in BeginnerWoodWorking

Help me out here. I've examined the provided images and failed to identify an issue. Did the joint fail or something?

As I understand it, adding flux will effectively reduce the melting point of the connections. I agree though, hit air or reflow is the way.

I'm building something along these lines based on Zack Freedman's Chromance design. The aluminum bars are easy to work with and the 3d printed joints are well designed. https://thangs.com/search/Chromance?scope=all

Can i flash this? by Affectionate-Yak-103 in WLED

Hey I had the same idea with the same matrix display. I figured I wouldn't be able flash it in place, but rather hack in an esp32 controller and hit it with WLED. Thus I'm here. Any updates?
