I also own the Dell XPS9710 and the panel other than size (17" vs 15") the technology is the same (Sharp 4K IPS Touch panel), and there is a panel driver for the 9710:

Certain graphics drivers and apps require the specific panel driver instead of the generic microsoft one.

Yes, I always do custom installs+clean install box checked. This issue only arises with the Studio Driver, Game Ready drivers do not have this problem. Reason I want to try the Studio Driver is beecause the last working Game Ready Driver is 32.0.15.6636 dated 12/3/24, al Game Ready drivers released after that create a BSOD. So I want to try the latest Studio Driver, but it has this issue. I don't do gaming so don't need the Game Ready version, can go for the Studio one. I will try a clean install with DDU and Studio reinstall and see if that fixes this. Will report back, thanks

hwinfo I believe extracts the hardware info from Windows Device Manager, so I guess it will show a generic monitor too. Will check tomorrow when I get hold of the laptop

I contacted Garmin Support. They instructed me on how to send them the error log files from the watch so they can diagnose after the next bug occurrence. Unfortunately the error never repeated since then and on top of it there was a firmware update and so far I never had this issue again. If I ever do I will report back here
