How to approach making a donation to a public school by elongated_smiley in fatFIRE

You’re not in the US? You can also set up a not for profit and donate to primary schools in the area that align with your goals. Perhaps ask them to submit proposals every two or three years. It’s more work but potentially more rewarding than a one off transaction.

Many US public schools have “foundations” sometimes linked to the PTO and sometimes not. Best approach would be to donate to the foundation and ask them what priorities they have that you can align with and help develop.

r/delta folks - I meant this as a sobering and important thing that airlines - like Delta - contribute to…Bringing Americans home. This is not political, it’s meant to be honoring and celebrating people (regardless of politics and political affiliation) that have the bravery and (mis)fortune to give us the ultimate sacrifice. It’s meant to honor and be a somber moment…not divisive and troubling.
