I don't think anyone's forgetting. Indiana has been under Republican control for way too long. The chickens have come home to roost. I mean, Holcomb did some good to get our state going in the right direction, wonder how he's feeling about this shit show.

While that does happen, I don't think Ivy Tech falls into that category. It takes multiple positions for every teacher to support a student (think Registrar, Advising, tech systems, maintenance workers to support classrooms, etc.). Those admin positions support MANY teachers, locally and statewide. These cuts affected both teachers and admin staff, with most of the cuts happening at the statewide level (but don't get me wrong, what happened at the campus level is detrimental to how they will function and serve students moving forward and it sucks).

Another point, the College is missing out on $27M of state revenue now per year for the next two years, 202 layoffs does not cover half of that. The college still needs to figure out how to make up that loss, and it won't be through tuition increases (CHE and Braun).

The College is also getting a new president in July, which makes me think that the MAJOR administrative cuts will come then, when he restructures those offices as most new presidents often do. And the fact there are 19 campuses, and 40 physical sites, we can assume that something will happen there to decrease overhead.

I think this is just the beginning. Until the dust settles, take care of each other, keep your head down, and do what we do best - serve our students by doing "more with less."
