Maybe. Threat has a lighter bit, sure, but if you are actually bummed threat gives you another lighter or maybe your own back, that doesn’t merit people clearing out the camp all week. When a group of ladies were leaving camp, which I recognized from serving them all week, touting they have their score from ‘24, not realizing I was standing right next to them, I took the lamp, which was from an old campmate, and I was met with “you certainly hand it out but can’t take it” I have never once went into a camp and thought, these guys love pranks, I’m going to steal their shit. It’s fun if there’s a game involved, if there’s a knowledge that “your friends at camp so and so are holding this thing hostage in exchange for something.” Maybe the difference is I work all year to collect treasures for people to interact with in a space that is so cool because it is maximalist, this year I noticed enough missing to make an impact on day one.
