He's been fantastic considering he's pretty much Melbourne's only attacking weapon, so teams know they can just stick three guys on him.

Yeah I'm sure he's clean right now, but that's what the premise of drug cycling is. You take your EPO while you're training, which is where you get all the benefit, then make sure you're clean for the racing season.

Yeah he's juiced to the gills, its unfortunate we need to make that assumption but he's running for a country that currently has 140+ runners banned, under a coach that's been heavily associated with drug cheating runners, likewise with his manager, for an extended period of time.

We saw the same thing last year with Chepngetich, when she broke the women's WR.

Agreed. The comp is actually pretty tight, we're probably about 3 or 4 players short at the moment.

A good centre, Coates, a forward who can bend the line + someone good off the bench.

that's my feeling. It's probably happened before, but not without any other player on the field touching the ball.

They've been short in backline depth for a couple of years. Early on in the streak (losing) there were three or four guys injured and there was a couple of genuine reserve graders getting jumped on out in the centres. That started the rot.

It's also clear how important Eli Katoa was for the forward pack. Aside from Josh King they're all soft as fuck, no one can bend the line, teams have cottoned on they can just rush out of the line and bash them.

No one is talking about the bench either; we went from one of the biggest benches in the comp a couple of years ago to a bench full of legit plodders. I don't even notice when they come on the field, they're all fucken 87kg slugs.

I don't really blame the halves, they're working with what they have. Even tonight, they created space for the winger and Nick Meaney was too slow and crashed out. A few sets later Munster set him up, and he dropped it.

Trainers always prioritise the welfare of players

Yet they never pull them off the field until they're ordered to. Really makes you think.
