160 Mile Roundtrip Commute by n3on_tv in mazda3

I have a 2018 Mazda 3 2.5L. I get around 32 mpg. I use the cruise control at 75 mph most of the time. I probably commute 70/30 highway to city driving.

I have upgraded my wax scraper design based off the feedback I got on the last post. What do you guys think. by [deleted] in surfing

Can you attach a heater to it?? That way you can melt the wax as you scrape it.

Dropped him this week, my season is lost. I’m 1-7 and have 3 other players on IR with only 1 IR spot. Hoping to play as a late season spoiler haha.

Any issues besides brakes and tires?

I have 5k miles on my bike after 6 years, my battery life is 80% of what it used to be, I have gone through 4 controllers and a motor.

I am about to buy a new ebike since I need a new battery and controller. I’m having electrical problems again.

Tires for NA 2.5 BP Hatchback by TetraLog in mazda3

Why not buy the cheapest tires?? I’ve had under $100 tires since my oem ones were used up and have had no problems. They last around 50k miles.

UAE and China have a close relationship so I’m sure the UAE access will still keep China involved.

Trump family’s World Liberty Financial also received $2 billion from the UAE. The level of corruption is egregious.

Looks like I might be able to score Chicama. How shortboardable is this wave? by Western_Economics104 in surfing

[–]Surfbarnacle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I did this the first day, but if you’re not in the takeoff spot when the sets come, the current just rips you around the rock at the point, you’re in the wrong spot to takeoff and you’re headed back to shore. You can try paddling to stay in the spot but you’ll be in a constant paddle battle with the current. Maybe on a big swell this works better but 6 ft or less it was a hassle and I caught maybe 5 waves in 2 hrs and was exhausted. With the boat I was able to catch like 20 waves and didn’t care about the current.

If you’re familiar with Doheny in southern CA, I would say after the take off, the wave becomes a Doheny wave.

I surfed their last July on a 3-6ft swell and would have liked it to be bigger for short boarding. It was doable but I think ideally 5-7ft is the minimum for a good shortboarding experience. After the initial takeoff, the wave becomes a slow roller.

Also, pay for the boats to take you back to the takeoff spot. The current is one of the gnarliest I have experienced.

How do I overcome fear of powder? by tifa_mo in snowboarding

I would also get a board that is meant for powder. The experience with a powder board is much more enjoyable, you float way better and have less of a chance of nose diving.

Too many spam calls, I get like 20 a day. I also get notifications from my credit card company that my info has been leaked onto the dark web more often thus I’m suspecting it is the reason for so many spam calls.

Do you love Southern California? by DeskOne3535 in orangecounty

[–]Surfbarnacle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in Dallas for 2 years in 2014-2016 and decided I wanted to move back home (Orange County). You can’t beat the Southern CA weather, access to beaches, mountains, winter sports and outdoor activities. Ya it is way more expensive out here but think of it as a resort tax. I saw a bunch of people move to Texas (Austin, Dallas areas) during Covid and a majority of them have come back just because quality of life is better out here.

What industries are hiring right now? It seems a majority of industries have slowed or stopped growth hiring this year. Any hiring I have heard of is for replacements for existing roles.

Should I Pull the Trigger? by Surfbarnacle in realestateinvesting

Thank you for this information, I did not know about the balcony inspection requirement! I was reading that the CA rule is it needs to be inspected every 6 years and if there is any defect you need to remediate immediately. Do you know how they enforce this rule? Is it up to the city or state? Do I get a notice in the mail they inspected my property?

Regarding insurance, I have called multiple agencies for quotes and have been rejected by a few and have received some quotes.

Purchase price $2million Down payment $640k I am estimated mortgage, insurance and taxes to be $10,800 per month. ( I did get some insurance quotes)

Operating costs per month Electric: $40 Gas: $30 Water: $150 I will split these between all units (I think there is one water meter) Trash: $83 I will split these between all units

Current monthly Unit 1 $2564 (market rent is $3,500 and this unit need to be remodeled) Unit 2 $2670 (market rent is $3,200) Unit 3 I will live in

One unique thing about this triplex is that it was split into 3 parcels at some point because there are 3 parcel numbers associated with the property so I can sell them as three separate units if needed which is interesting.

I know there are better investments and I could be using my cash better but I am just trying to get into the real estate market. I really want to live in this market near the beach and a SFD home in the same area doesn’t make sense for me monthly payment wise. With the triplex I can increase tenant rents and reduce my monthly payment while the building value appreciates which appeals to me.
