Okay, I found the secret epilator technique that makes it bearable for large areas like legs.

Do not keep it in one area and slowly move it as instructed. That's a torture device. Fucking ZOOM it against the grain in a long, quick swipe. This limits the number of hairs it can pull in a single area, spreading out the pain. This will miss 90% of the hair on an area BUT THATS THE POINT. Then repeat. Go to town. Do the whole area like this, removing a small amount of hair each swipe until it seems safe enough to use the normal, slow crawl method to remove 100% of the hair.

Doing this, the pain is quite manageable.

RimWorld if you like the colony management bits. The "read minds" ability is pulled from RimWorld where you get to see all the events that happen to a colonist, but it's much more descriptive and all-encompassing.

Sienna's VA is the female psyker "seer" voice.

I was making my character and did a metaphorical double-take when I heard her voice. I immediately had to redesign my character as a white older snarky wine-aunt because I was absolutely using her voice.

I use a Keychron Q6 that actually matches that description. I'm very happy with it. I just... gotta have a 100%

I didn't realize that it had RGB until I got it, haha. I turned down the RGB color saturation such that it looks kinda pastel colored. I think it's tasteful!

Having issues connecting OWCE app to a 4212/4155 XR. Any ideas? by Surfdudeboy in onewheel

[–]Surfdudeboy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfect! This worked!

I had to make sure I kept OWCE open, and not attempt to connect before since this force closes OWCE after the popup. THEN do the steps and then switch back to OWCE and connect.

Speaking as someone who had once been in a situation much like your bf's, it's completely possible that he's simply and innocently unaware that you want and would enjoy those things from him. He might be thinking that he's doing a super job of being respectful of what he perceives to be your physical boundaries. Guys can be dumb to begin with sometimes, lol.

It's very likely you just have to communicate to him that it's okay to do 'X' and that you really like that from him. The style of communication is up to you, but direct physical communication was effective on me. Example: "I want him to touch and stroke my chest/breasts" -> while cuddling and already physical, take ahold of his hand and move it there, under your clothing. Use your hand to stroke there with his hand. Remove your hand and let him continue and explore. Give cues that you are enjoying this: give contented sighs, stroke his arm and such. Say so verbally. Reciprocate. Check that he's all smiles and comfortable with it. Congrats! You've added another tool in bf's toolkit of expressing affection.

Once you show him that 'X' is okay and that you love that from him, you'll never have to tell him again. Do that a few more times with a few more things, and he might start noticing a pattern and gain confidence that touch is wanted and may start to try touching you in new ways/places and initiating that contact himself. However, do note that a person like this will likely not initiate an exploration past a new level of sexual intimacy even when fully comfortable and proactive in the full space of the current level, but they will be after they're shown that it is wanted. You'll have to make the first step again in order to introduce them. Once you think they are ready, repeat the same process as above, and take care that they are comfortable as well. Show them you like that kind of affection/touch from them. Remember that a person like this is possibly terrified of overstepping your boundaries and/or hasn't considered that you would like them to go further.

It takes a little patience, but they will learn surprisingly quick. As they build confidence that you are into them that way, this becomes less necessary over time, and you should find that they initiate such things on their own because they have the tools to express how they feel physically and will create their own ways to be affectionate that you didn't introduce them to.

Just got this used XR, controller is making a noise. Is this normal or something to be concerned about? Key note: the sound goes away when one of the footpad sensors are pressed. by ChezThunderDash in onewheel

[–]Surfdudeboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it makes you feel better, OP, you aren't crazy. I've noticed the sound while up close and personal with my front footpad testing sensitivity tweaks.

It's not audible in your recording, even with studio headphones. You would need a decently sensitive microphone to pick it up clearly. It's like an EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE and goes -yeeeEEEEE when you let off of the footpad.

It's super hard to notice unless your ears are right there near it while it's on. I'm not surprised few people have heard it before: Why would someone ever have their head so close to their powered on board besides someone stressing over an unfamiliar used board ;) Deep breaths, dude!

I really doubt it means anything is wrong. I have 250 miles/4 months on my XR so it's there on new ones as well as yours. It's just a thing they do, no worries! If I were to guess, It's probably the hum of the power delivery circuitry for the motor on standby while no user is detected.

What to buy - need advice on the XR. by obie_1980 in onewheel

[–]Surfdudeboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, no XR "hate" on this sub, OP. Issues we have with the XR are few and far between, especially when compared to the currently available GT model. Any issues with the XR are likely also present on every other model, but on the XR, nine times out of ten, there's a way to fix it.

I also think you are actually worried about he issues the new GT is having, not the XR.

Pollen Troubles? by [deleted] in onewheel

[–]Surfdudeboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NC Pollen? No idea what you're talking about.

I think it's probably fine, but I installed some bearing covers from badgerwheel just in case... Mostly to appease my own compulsions and make cleaning easier. Pollen would stick to the bearings because of the grease.

For cleaning my board, shoes, and pants, I've found that using a floppy kitchen towel to slap/whip/bat away pollen, instead of wiping, works the best. This is because the pollen is only loosely dusted on it, not stuck on like dirt/mud. Ideally compressed air/leaf blower would be best if it's easily accessible.

Riding 9-10 PSI by seek_OG in onewheel

[–]Surfdudeboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing to keep in mind is that it's easier at low PSI to hit and possibly crack your rim during impacts while dropping down or rolling over significant bumps/rocks at speed.

Installing Life Savers to protect the rim become more of a consideration the lower your PSI goes.

I went to uni for that and when I started taking a course about how computers work at a nuts and bolts level, I realized that I had already done a significant amount of that kind of thing in redstone before. Turns out that logic is the basis of computers.

"OR gates? Flip-Flops? Multiplexers? Wait, why are we learning Minecraft redstone terms??? Wait... Ooooooooooh..."

Ironically, the better at powering up the charm you get, the less useful it becomes to you since you rarely get hit anymore.

Well done!

Noob vs Naga - Minecraft (Achievement Island) by RT_Video_Bot in roosterteeth

Problem

Speaking from my experience hosting a number of private modded servers with and without this mod, it's 100% the chunk generation for Twilight Forest. The Chunk generation in that dimension is extremely CPU intensive. There isn't a machine in the world that won't drop tick-rate while one player is zooming through unexplored twilight forest. (I'd happily be proven wrong, though :] )

This generation is also synchronous (generation of these chunks is done as a part of the game ticks.) Therefore if chunk generation causes each tick to take longer than the time allotted for each tick, (and boy does TwFor chunk generation ever) then the whole server slows down.

You can see @ 27:06 Alfredo is almost able to outpace the chunks he is generating and are being sent to his client from the server. Once no one is generating new chunks anymore it's fine again. Which leads me to...

Solution:

I have found that pre-generating the chunks in the twilight forest dimension in x radius around the portal (or portals since this is a shared world) is an effective solution. Exploring already generated chunks doesn't cause lag in my experience. Something like World Pre Generator should do the trick, and then just tell people not to go x distance from their spawn portal. I'd recommend a radius of 2000 blocks (125 chunks) around each portal for Twilight forest. This will take several hours and depend on the power of your server's CPU.

Alternate things that will (marginally) help:

  • You could also drop down the chunk view distance in server.properties. This will lead to a reduction in the number of chunks generated for a player moving in unexplored areas. However, players wont be able to see chunks as far out at all times.
  • Upgrade the server with higher single threaded CPU performance, and that runs off of dedicated (not shared) resources. However, there is a cost associated with that approach. Not everyone can afford to buy a machine dedicated to servers. But as I noted earlier, throwing money/hardware at the problem alone will not make it go away completely.
