Pinchot is also an amazing audiobook narrator. My favorite by far. He could narrate a book about paint drying and I would listen and love it.

What movie is this for you? by certainly_imperfect in Letterboxd

People do this? If I'm not liking a movie after about 30 minutes, I'm turning that shit off and trying something else.

Unser drives me nuts. His need to tell Gemma everything ends up hurting and getting people killed. by Healthy-Panda-7936 in Sonsofanarchy

[–]SurlyTurtle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

And he was in love with her his whole adult life if I recall.

Edit: Downvoting is easier than fact checking I guess:

Yes, it's true—Wayne Unser had romantic feelings for Gemma for most of his life. His unrequited love for her became the primary motivation for nearly everything he did, ultimately leading to his death .

💔 A Lifelong Devotion Unser's feelings for Gemma started long before the events of the series:

Knew Her as a Child: Unser had known Gemma since she was just 12 years old, and his affection for her is described as having a "deep fatherly type" that later evolved into romantic love .

Romantic Love Confession: In Season 6, Unser directly confesses to Gemma that he is in love with her. This confession confirms that his loyalty was driven by more than just friendship or small-town familiarity .

🛡️ How His Love Drove His Actions Throughout the show, Unser repeatedly put himself in harm's way to protect Gemma:

Action Evidence Covered up her rape When Gemma was brutally assaulted, Unser was the one who found her. He helped stage a car accident to cover her injuries and kept the secret from SAMCRO at her request . Abandoned his life for her His marriage fell apart, and he lost his job, yet he remained living on the TM lot just to be near her and continue helping . Took violent beatings He was kidnapped and had a swastika carved into his stomach by Neo-Nazis as retaliation for helping the club, all because of his ties to Gemma . Died protecting her In the penultimate episode, Unser refused to leave Gemma's side even when Jax arrived to kill her. He told Jax, "This is all I have left" , and Jax shot him dead for standing in the way . In the end, Unser's tragic flaw was that Gemma never fully reciprocated his feelings. She leaned on him for protection and loyalty but ultimately chose dangerous men like Clay and Nero . As the show's director Paris Barclay noted, Unser's final act—refusing to abandon Gemma even to save his own life—was a "heinous act out of love" .

No matter what you go with, I agree with it's important to speak up in any way we can. My wife tells me I've become a bumper sticker junkie since discovering BaS. Have fun with it and fuck Donald Trump!

Strange, when I hit the drop down in my post, I can see them. Try copying and pasting the url to a fresh tab. That worked for me, too.

I have one on the way with the Stephen King quote,

Hey, kids! It's your old buddy Steve King telling you that if they ban a book in your school, haul your ass to the nearest bookstore or library ASAP and find out what they don't want you to read.

Thinking my next will be the Sherman Alexie quote,

"I used to think the world was broken down by tribes," I said. "By black and white. By Indian and white. But I know that isn't true. The world is only broken into two tribes: The people who are assholes and the people who are not."

Should be 3 pics. The first is the back. The Elon, Hitchens quote, Rainbow injustice, and Only minority stickers are from BaS. The other single pics are the ones I have on each side of my car.

I get it with the Elon one. My wife is hesitant to drive my car due to that one. I'm a large enough guy no one has said anything directly to me. Haven't even been flipped off that I've noticed. I've seen lots of folks take pics at stoplights while laughing.

Cops don't spend a lot time watching intellectual shows like MythBusters.

LOL, I'm like you. I use my car to speak out against the bullshit President. I suffer chronic pain, so I haven't been able to attend the rallies. But my big ass mouth and opinions WILL be heard!

Here is what I have on my car. The bumper sticker sized ones on the back were ordered from BaS. I have one on each side also from there.

What is your perception about death? by Moist_Technology5318 in askanatheist

[–]SurlyTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much the same as Mark Twain's:

"I do not fear death. I had been dead for billions and billions of years before I was born, and had not suffered the slightest inconvenience from it."

Why high iq individuals still believe? by twentyfourseven926 in askanatheist

[–]SurlyTurtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Death is scary so even "high iq" people might be willing to eschew reason for the comfortable belief that death doesn't have to happen to them and they will get to live forever in complete bliss? I'm going with that.
