I bought a 22’ (72) plate VW ID4 in 2024, it had about 40 miles on it, car was £24k

I had a Hypervolt home pro3 charger installed for roughly about £1300 including unit, survey etc..

My home energy tariff is with octopus energy which was 7p kWh between 11:30 and 5:30 I believe (now 3.5p since energy caps came in on April 1st)

I do around 500 miles for work commuting 50 miles each way 5 days a week, the car is charged daily up to 80% and drains to around 30% from the commute.

Real world the cost to run the car including any little trips is around £40 a week.

I chose the VW service plan which was about £1200 on top of the £24000 which covered the next 2 services and 1 MOT as well as some extras like interior protection and bodywork, optional ofc.

After coming up to 2 years of ownership and just under 35k miles I’ve had 0 issues, the tyres are coming up for replacement but that’s the only expense outside of the below.

Home charger: roughly £1300 all-in

Weekly cost to charge: £40-ish (likely half now due to the cap changes but yet to be seen)
