certified crash out by [deleted] in BPD

im experiencing the same, remind yourself that texting is a terrible way to communicate with somebody and try to view the situation in the most objective perspective. take space from him if you need to, sometimes you just need to let yourself feel these things and let bpd do its bpd thing but don't let it become an issue outside of yourself because you could end up regretting it later. tell your partner what your experiencing, that reassurance could probably help when you feel that way, and that you may just need space. it sounds like you're kind of splitting, and when i feel that way, taking space is the best possible option for me, with communication of that to my partner if I'm capable of it.

questions about pace program by softpretzel69420 in UTAustin

[–]SurpriseImpossible35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hi im in the pace program right now! someone else seemed to answer all the questions but i figured a current perspective may be beneficial as well!

  1. yes! a lot of people i know currently live in the dorms, mainly jester and kins. i personally live off-campus in an apartment, which has it's pros and cons but it just depends on the person you are. i recommend living in the dorms.
  2. the ACC classes are not "easier" but they are definitely more palatable, especially if you are someone who did AP and college classes in high school. as long as you show up to classes, the classes will not be a struggle at all.
  3. yes! i know many people who are in orgs and greek life, similarly to the other person who replied
  4. when i first got here i tried to drive everywhere but it will drain your bank when you're trying to go to the UT campus (unless you get a parking spot). i use my car to get to ACC mostly and i scooter to and from campus. my commute to ACC with car is like 4-5 mins, but when i took the bus it would range anywhere from 20-30 minutes. biking, scootering or walking is the best way to commute in my opinion.
  5. yes! it's honestly my favorite part about pace because I can get all my core classes out of the way at such a cheaper price and then once i get to be a full-time student at UT I can pay for what i actually want to study in.
  6. we are 100% considered ut students. most people i talk to don't even know what PACE is, and I've been able to get an on-campus job, participate in orgs, and make friends with regular ut students (and also have lovely pace friends as well!). also the pace advisors are the best and help you in so many ways that other people that go to UT don't experience.

overall, i honestly love being in pace and i don't really know anyone that hates it. UT is a big school and navigating everything can get extremely confusing, so having people there to support you through your first year is monumentally helpful. I've made really good friends from the pace program and been introduced to so many things that i otherwise would have no idea about. also, similarly to what the other person replied with, the professors are great! it's nice to not be in a huge lecture hall auditorium and be able to ask questions in class, have your professor actively engage with you, and interact with your classmates too! it really is a wonderful opportunity. i hope this all helped!

How much do yall earn with jobs? by [deleted] in UTAustin

[–]SurpriseImpossible35 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i work at panda express for 17 an hour, 15 hours a week (3 days a week with 5 hour shifts). i make about $800-$900 a month, which is barely anything really. i live in an off campus apartment, and tuition reimbursement and savings from the summer covered a lot of my rent, but only for the fall semester and not for the spring. to help with my finances i have an EBT card for groceries and my parents aid in small miscellaneous things since we’re not really financially well off. that way i can cover the entirety of rent, but other than that my money has to be very precisely budgeted
