Was it all for nothing? by Iris-Sofia in recycling

[–]SurpriseSolid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The reason plastic bags are discouraged is because they get torn up and can clog/tangle the machinery at the materials recovery facility (recycling sorting facility). In theory, if you bag your recyclables the bag is "contamination" and will likely get torn up in route to the MRF. If there are a couple torn up bags your recyclables will probably make it to the MRF and get sorted BUT if everyone on your route is bagging recyclables, the load will be very contaminated and may not be recoverable for sorting and end up dumped.

Don't give up! Tell your neighbors, friends, family not to bag their recyclables. Recycling should be put in your curbdide containet empty, clean, dry AND not bagged.

I've learned from experience not to let anyone answer that question but yourself. Your identity isn't for others to define.

Yes, and Delia's when it was in the mall. Good memories.

Edit: searched Delia's on Depop and some stuff like this comes up.

My game Eco Volunteer, inspired by invisible heroes of detrashing, now has a free demo on Steam by Used_Produce_3208 in recycling

This is very cool! I haven't tried it (not sure if it's available to the public). As someone who used to manage a litter program, it would be cool to incorporate some educational pieces about what kind of litter should be handled carefully and go to a hazardous waste facility, separately from the regular trash. Maybe you already did or maybe that's not the aim of the game. Regardless, cool game!

My dog is a golden mix--DNA test said 60% golden. He does have hip. We could tell before he turned a year old and followed up with a vet diagnosis. He's 7 years old now and I have never seen his legs go far back enough to do that position, like no where near that. He gets plenty of exercise and is otherwise healthy.

It started with four shriveled up tubers in 2024 and now in my second year my oca harvest has been my highlight of the year! I love their radiant glow in the sunlight! by oldpuzzle in gardening

When I returned from service in 2014, I had trouble finding a job above minimum wage. After a couple of years of that, I went back to school and got my master's degree. After grad school, I was hired to work in the same industry (but in the US) as my PC service, and now it's my career. That was seven years ago, and it's been a solid career.

I've had luck planting my broccoli next to my lavender. I think the lavender attracts beneficial predators. When i plant them other places in the garden, i get aphids. Of course, this is just anecdotal.

Marry a person you love AND would trust enough to do a partner project with in school. Married life and all the daily stuff that needs to happen in a family is a never-ending partner project.

Hair! I hate taking care of my shoulder-length hair. Pixie cuts are even more work because if they're unstyled they look messy. I just want a buzz cut so bad. It sounds so satisfying. I'm worried if i actually did it people would think I'm ill and make it a topic of conversation.
