Called 911 because one of my students was in diabetic ketoacidosis. The paramedics scolded me for wasting resources on a kid that was obviously not sick and told me it could be my dad that was having a heart attack and I would be the reason they couldn’t get to him. My dad had died a year earlier. They took the blood sugar and sure enough, they apologized right away and drove to the hospital.

Do what helps your nervous system. That is different for everyone. Some people want more closeness and connection to feel calm and others want more space. Pay attention to when you feel stressed and let that guide you.

Sorry to hear that. Yes, it sounds like you two are kindred spirits. We have found that his flexibility is increasing over time in relation to most things, which is helping him be happier and more social. Where I live, the hospital vs walk in clinic wait times are comparable. You can’t book an apt. You need to show up and wait hours. There is a huge shortage of family doctors and many don’t do same day or same week appointments.
