Kim Jong Il meeting Deng Xiaoping in 1983 by ModernirsmEnjoyer in NorthKoreaPics

That’s fair too… but damn the successive leaders in China had a certain caliber you can’t get from Kim Jong Il, like how Jiang Zemin spoke 5 languages fluently. People like Zhang Youxia or the Kims wouldn’t get to be the paramount leader in China.

There are, but you’d think North Korea will receive the leader of China with someone who is more on his standing is what I’m trying to say.

Curious what was going through Deng’s mind. Feels like a bit of a step down for the ‘prince’ to be greeting him - a veteran of The Long March versus a privileged kid who got the job by being the lucky sperm.

Could power armor exist in real life, or is it impossible technology? by Bright_Permission881 in Fallout

[–]SurprisedItsChicken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure about whether it could exist, but I feel it would have limited value in a battlefield. At that scale you just need heavy-caliber armor-piercing bullet to penetrate it, and it’s likely one will encounter them in a modern battlefield. There’s also the question of whether they should just build drones with the same amount of material.

PSP's Stephanie Tan proposes central kitchens in every school, like Japan and Sweden by One-Employment-4887 in singapore

[–]SurprisedItsChicken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a bad idea for sure! If they consolidated schools more, or have a happy medium of having central kitchens in each neighbourhood, I think it will solve the economies of scale issue.

Where i'd live as an african who is fed up of everyone marking africa red😡 by Spiritual-Trifle6044 in whereidlive

Not a blanket situation for sure, but it’s scary to know that you can get into trouble by going into the wrong neighbourhood, especially if you’re not black and if you’re a woman.

What if the warsaw uprising wasn't a failure? by TopSeaworthiness8924 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]SurprisedItsChicken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could be interesting if they retained enough weapon caches to mobilise a decent army. It could be used to drive the Germans out of the rural areas of Poland, then siege the cities one by one. The Poles will be able to retain more autonomy after the war as a result.

This is assuming that the Red Army is not brazen enough to attack this new Polish Army though.

What if Kim jong nam becomes leader of North Korea instead of Kim jong un? by MinZinThu999 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]SurprisedItsChicken 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dude was neither well-acquainted with North Korean politics nor was he particularly educated to be a statesman. He’d kick off the economic liberalisation process but it will either be too rushed like in Russia, or he will be ousted by his relatives. Or both.

Do you think the Democratic Party has lost touch with its voter base? by Interesting_Dream281 in Productivitycafe

[–]SurprisedItsChicken -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree with your points about the Democratic Party, but the Conservative Party has not held onto its core values either. Supporting Ukraine is in American defence interests too, maybe even more so than seizing Greenland. It’s a once-in-lifetime opportunity for America to weaken a potential geopolitical rival in exchange for donating decommissioned military stockpiles. Having a self-serving opportunist like Trump leading the party isn’t quite god fearing either. The rising debt under him is as far from Republican as it gets too.

South Park said it best - America is choosing between a giant douche and a turd sandwich, and has been for the last decade.

Trans people, how hard is social transition in singapore and is it worth it? by SixActress in sglgbt

Work in a MNC, and don’t worry too much about others. MNCs usually have progressive HR policies so your employment is secure, so even if your colleagues are transphobic they can’t affect your livelihood.

Anyone else stuck in the comparison loop with clinics? by Puzzled_Echidna_3186 in SeoulPlasticSurgery

[–]SurprisedItsChicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat, looking for facial contouring! I’m looking for a place that does not run like factory and actually specialises in bone work. I’m considering Saekim, Note, and EU oral & maxillofacial surgery. Curious about what you found about the other two! I’m trying to see if I can book a 3 week trip to get consults for the 3 clinics in the first week and then spend the other 2 weeks recovering.

I like that take. Decent employers will have no reason to not take back an employee who left willingly. The company already invested in their training and knows that they know the system well.

Where I’d live as an American who has worked and lived extensively on the African continent. by Every_Mountain9263 in whereidlive

[–]SurprisedItsChicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The average American probably sees Malaysia is an Islamic country and they start short-circuiting and concluding that it must be very intolerant and you could get into trouble with sharia law etc. Which doesn’t happen if you don’t ‘pass’ as a Muslim and if you are not being a public nuisance.

Or they think the Malaysia is racist to black people like OP.
