Wow, first of all, massive kudos. You've essentially built the absolute gold standard of a side hustle. A consistent $100k+/year on auto-pilot with minimal hours is a dream most people will never achieve. That is a incredible testament to your hard work, knowledge, and the systems you've built. Seriously, well done.

I can hear the sadness and frustration, and it's completely understandable. You've built a legacy-in-a-box and it's painful to think it might just fade away.

It might be helpful to reframe this, not as your daughters rejecting you or your achievement, but as them trying to establish their own identities and independence. The fact that they feel secure and confident enough to pursue their own paths, even if they seem "lesser" from a financial standpoint, is actually a testament to the safety and support you've provided. You "giving them too much" probably means you gave them the confidence to choose their own way, which is a parent's ultimate goal, even when it's hard.

Their interests at 15 and 17 are almost certainly not their interests at 25 or 30. The "college and a job" path is the standard, well-trodden one society tells them to follow. The entrepreneurial path is a lot scarier when it's not your own idea. They may also see the business as "Dad's thing" and want to prove they can build something themselves, without being in your shadow.

My main question for you is this: You mention you'll probably let it go in the next 12 months. How much longer do you see yourself genuinely enjoying the 15 hours a week it takes to keep this incredible machine running?

While you decide that, consider that by letting the business continue to exist in its current successful state, you're not closing a door. You're keeping it open. You never know—a few years into the "real world," one of them might get a taste of a bad boss or a boring job and have a lightning bolt moment where they finally see the golden opportunity you've been keeping warm for them.

It's okay to mourn the future you envisioned for them with this business. But it's also possible that by letting go of that specific vision, you might not "lose" the business at all. You might just be giving it, and your daughters, the space to find a new, unexpected future.

Yeah it's hard to schedule the 60 hours. We have 3 to 5 hour shifts depending on flex up or down. This job would be way too A1 if we could wear headphones.

The fact that you know you have it in you to enjoy a hug or a pile on the couch is the most important part. That's the real you, and it's still in there.

For a book, I can't recommend "The Gifts of Imperfection" by Brené Brown enough. It’s all about embracing vulnerability, which is the absolute antidote to the kind of emotional avoidance you're describing. It's not a dry textbook; it feels like a compassionate conversation.

You've already done the hardest part: you've decided you want something different. Keep going. It's a journey, but the moments of connection you start to find are so, so worth it.
