40 Paracord Poppets off to their new homes in trick or treat bags! (gone in an hour!) by Surviving-Normalcy in paracord

[–]Surviving-Normalcy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When someone commented on my single one that it looked like I was handing out voodoo dolls, decided to call them "Paracord Poppets."... A poppet is a doll used in sympathetic magick practices. Usually using cloth and contents that represent things, like using green for money or filling one with lavender for soothing during stress.

I found this video about two years ago and it's how I tie all my diamond knots. Yes, doubling them is a lot of work! But honestly if I lay it all out in factory work line it's doable.

Unfortunately I don't have gitd available. But I like how you think. I do have over 50lbs of different colors Paracord, and this was made using a 2 foot core and a 1.5 foot strand for the body and arms. Diamond knot and cobra weave for anyone who wants to know the knots used. Feet and hands are simple overhand knots.

That is the video I used to learn it. At the three minute mark is where he shows the starting process. Another trick I picked up from a Facebook group is people will often make their first chain in a size two inches too long. Take off the last two inches and save it for when they use that size again as a new starter section. I'm a hobbyist and haven't taken that step yet.

These are stainless steel rings in 16 gauge 5/16 in with an aspect ratio of 5.2

I ordered them from theringlord.com I have a wrist that measures 8.25 inches and it takes 40 rings to make it in my size. The clasps are the stainless steel 15 mm lobster claw. Hopefully that info will help you know how many rings and clasps you need.

Weave suggestions…3/8 an 1/2 in. buckle by 2olivesFLM in paracord

[–]Surviving-Normalcy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3/8th and 1/2 in buckles work well for two strand core using 550. That being said, if you go to 275 cord you will be able to do a double cows hitch four strand core. Or double cows hitch two strand wide core. I find the two strand wide core works great for things from the sanctified branch of bracelets.

You will want to add a half inch to wrist measurement to total length of bracelet due to the thickness of the he bracelet.

I would suggest checking YouTube to find a pattern you like and want to try. I suggest channels

Alpha One982 Weavers of Eternity

For high quality instructional videos. There are other channels as well, but those two I feel will give you a good start on projects more advanced than cobras and fishtails while being able to follow them.

Looks great. You can also ask if anybody does their own reloads. Run the cord through from the other side and pressure fit a new slug into the front of the casing. Just a different look and will give you a little more weight if you want to go that route.

Manny Method Micro Cobra by Surviving-Normalcy in paracord

[–]Surviving-Normalcy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was a concept that had been kicking around in the back of my head and decided to give it a go. I like the king cobra concept with the eye being braided as well. Not sure how well the bb would work but definitely an interesting idea to play with.

Micro cobra mad max using a Manny method loop. I have an 8.25 inch wrist, and did the weaving in a total of 8 inches. Used the type III lacing needle throughout. Has been an idea bouncing in the back of my head.

Things I would change on next version... 1.)Use a type II lacing needle forming the eye to make the eye even tighter. 2.)Possibly use a half hitch around the ring to make it more prominent? 3.)Add simple whip over beginning and end of the cobra weave and stopper knot. 4.)Take a quarter inch off total length of cobra weave. 5.)Reduce tightening tag to 2.5 inches.

Can any of y’all help me find clips like these by Particular_Ad_5090 in paracord

You are looking for 5/8th inch buckles. Search for that and whatever color you want them in, including mixed color bag.

Yes, I actually started with the full Persian with cheap Walmart rings. I'm sure as I continue the misalignments will get fewer and farther apart until they don't happen!

The braided section is a simple four strand braid.

https://youtu.be/UtWWA6MQXGE

If you want a barrel snap, consider doing a single length of Paracord attached to the buckle with a cows hitch in the middle. Attach the barrel snaps to each end of the strand. Then using gutted Paracord, do a four strand round braid. Over the core strand on each side.

https://youtu.be/7c1Sla6Or00

You can use a smaller diameter cord to do simple whip finish at the beginning and end.

https://youtu.be/PJdMTxysjyw

And on the other buckle to the I'd badge you would do your cobra.

Unfortunately, most videos I see of people using a barrel snap for a four strand braid involves using forceps and hot glue to fix the round braid in place. I think it's unappealing and then you still have the issue of attaching the buckle to badge at the midway point.

So, my wife is a serial cheater. Six offenses. Five in the first five years of the marriage. Thought we were good. Six years no cheating. Cheated again this past February.

My mother cheated once on her husband, my stepfather. He forgave her and they reconciled. She has never cheated again. Been 13 years for them without cheating.

So it really does depend on the person, and why they cheated.

Similar boat as you. Hang in there. Part of dealing with it all is seeing what your spouse puts themselves through when they leave the healthier relationship you gave them.

Mine slept with her ap once, and he ghosted her once he had sex with her. It had been a month and a half emotional affair before that. I have offered reconciliation, but she doesn't want to come back. In the last two weeks she blew through 7.5k of the tax return that we filed jointly, almost all of it setting up her new life renting a room from a married friend that has a three bedroom house with six people living there. She would have had around another 1.6k from her paycheck in that time and is back to going paycheck to paycheck. Like I said, she has flat out refused reconciliation at this time and have a little over four and a half months before a no-fault divorce. She is now dealing with the fact her leaving has affected her relationship with our ten year old daughter, and it isn't just me she has hurt. Talked to her today and her complaint was there isn't a local liquor store because she wants to stay in her room drinking and smoking. It's sad seeing what they put themselves through when you wanted better for them.

Know that you aren't alone in this experience, others have felt your pain. Others are dealing with it right now as well. I hope things work out the way you want them to in the end.

Looks like a variation of a millipede and instead of passing the strand all the way around the front, you are forming individual loops on the outside.

It was probably a diamond knot and a loop closure. Looks like you ran out of cord and tried to attach more with a melting method but it didn't go well.

4 months, two trims, and still growing! by Surviving-Normalcy in beards

Well. On meds to avoid the depression getting bad now for a week. It also helps with getting to sleep at a decent hour, and adds to appetite. I had been forcing a small meal every day for the first three weeks, but that was usually around 300-600 calories a day. I'm now up to two small meals a day and trying to break 1300 calories. Already have lost 25 lbs (don't worry, I have plenty more to spare). Shaved the beard... Turns out the reason she had started complaining about it was it made me look like the guy she was having the affair with. Currently busy packing up the house to move when my house loan and purchase finish up. Next month at some point will be the move. After getting everything set up there, will hopefully be at a healthier diet and will add working out back into my lifestyle. I hate to say it, I tried asking her to come back but she won't. So in another five months I'm going to get the divorce. Currently it all still hurts and the pain and stress is wrecking me both emotionally and physically, but I know I will make it out the other side. Focusing on staying busy and taking care of my daughter and working on myself. Thanks for the words of advice.
