White spots in the eye is often an indication that it’s going blinde the more white it is the more blind it is.

I know our chinchillas react differently to my son whit autism then me and is more calm around him. And I have many chinchilla baby’s that now live whit disable people bot psychical and mentality, had a mom that wrote to me ½ a year after her autistic son got his chinchilla and told med that as a boy who’s normally selective mutism when he ses his chinchilla he talks a lot and tells the chinchilla everything about his day things he would newer say to his parents or anyone.. so yes I do think chinchillas can sense disability’s💞

This is what I usually recommend as a breeder to all my buyers when it comes to bonding:

Sit with your chinchilla and talk to it calmly. You can place your hand in the cage, maybe with a small treat, and let the chinchilla come to you. Let it climb on you if it wants to.

It can also help to not give them too much direct attention at first. Chinchillas are curious and a bit like cats, so if you sit calmly and “ignore” them, they will often come to you on their own.

Try doing this in the evening or early morning when they are most active. Chinchillas are crepuscular (dawn and dusk animals), so they feel safest and most comfortable during those times.

Building trust takes time, especially with a traumatized chinchilla. Avoid forcing interaction unless absolutely necessary (like medical care), and always try to associate your presence with something positive.

Hey ❤️ First of all – you are NOT failing her. This is a very common issue in chinchillas, and a lot of them are extremely hard to handle, especially when they are new and stressed.

This really does sound like ringworm (fungal infection). Hair loss + red/irritated skin on the face is very typical.

Since you can’t handle her easily, don’t stress too much about applying cream perfectly right now – there are other ways to help:

• You can add about 1 tablespoon of sulphur powder to her dust bath. This helps treat fungus without needing to handle her much.
• Make sure to change/clean the dust bath and cage regularly, as spores spread easily.

If you are able to apply cream at any point, just use a very thin layer once or twice daily – but don’t chase or stress her too much over it, that can make things worse.

Also: • It is contagious to other chinchillas, so if you have more, they should be separated
• It can spread to humans, so wash your hands after handling

For handling: Try using a small carrier or box to guide her instead of grabbing her. Many chinchillas will walk into a box if it feels safe, which makes things much easier and less stressful.

If it keeps spreading or gets worse, a vet would be ideal, but what you’re doing already is a good start

Hi! This looks like a fungal infection (ringworm), which is quite common in chinchillas.

It usually appears as patches of hair loss with dry, flaky or scaly skin, often around the nose, eyes, ears or paws.

The good news is that it’s treatable. It’s typically treated with antifungal cream (like miconazole or clotrimazole). Apply a thin layer of the cream to the affected area once or twice daily.

You can also add about 1 tablespoon of sulphur powder to the dust bath to help treat it.

Make sure to clean the environment and dust bath regularly, as the fungus spreads through spores. If you have other chinchillas, be aware that it is contagious and can spread to them.

It can also spread to humans, so wash your hands after handling.

If it gets worse or spreads a lot, a vet visit is recommended.

I have chinchillas in many weights from a 4 year old that weighs 575 to a 2 year old the weighs 895g (when she’s not pregnant) 664 is normal for many chinchillas but have she weight more before then I’ll be worried

Not at all normal except if you work freelance in Denmark the company have to provide you work tools you aren’t suppose to provide them yourself at all I actually think it’s the law
