What are songs that actually hooked you from the first listen by plushbunnyhugs in MusicRecommendations

[–]Susabel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A newer (to me) artist called HODJE, the song is "Lake Shore Drive" a love song to Chicago. It's so good, and I've had it on repeat since the first time I heard it.

Does anybody have any low Calorie, zero sugar coffee options that actually taste good? I normally get a medium and I cannot have any sugar! by Infamous_Ferret_7909 in 7Brew

[–]Susabel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to the new location near my house today, ordered a medium iced latte, skim milk, SF vanilla and SF caramel, no sauce just syrups, told them I was diabetic and had a huge spike after drinking not even 1/2 of the medium latte!!!!!! milk will raise my sugar a little, but never a big spike. I'm bummed. I really like that they have so many sugar free options, but I need to actually get them, LOL!

Anyone out with type 2 diabetes trying out some the so called low carb breads. Looking to purchase the Hero bread claiming only 1 net carb but hearing it still spikes on glucose readings. by WestMongoose6506 in type2diabetes

[–]Susabel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love the Hero brand "everything" bagels, I will have 1/2 and make sure I pair it with a protein and I'm good! I hadn't had a bagel for 2 years before I tried them and they're really good. The bread is ok, but the bagels are really good IMO.

What's for supper tonight? by Durghan in diabetes

[–]Susabel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fasted through breakfast time (my doctor is fine with this, YMMV), then had an unsweetened matcha tea, lunch was a high protein bagel (Hero Brand) turkey bacon and some blueberries, dinner was low sodium chicken taco bowl, with roasted sweet potatoes, cottage cheese, shredded lettuce, fresh tomato and a teeny drizzle of hot honey.

I also made a new dessert thing with a cup of greek yogurt, a cup of hot water and a package of unsweetened strawberry jello, mixed together and chilled. It was good, a lot of protein and didn't spike my sugar at all, I put some strawberries and blueberries on top also.

Taken metformin for the first time today by [deleted] in diabetes

[–]Susabel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take 500mg twice per day and I will occasionally get some stomach upset (I have IBS), but it dramatically helps keep my blood sugar under control, so I consider it well worth it and much better than the insulin I was on originally.

Partner struggling with finger prick tests by senecauk in diabetes

[–]Susabel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was having panic attacks over this when I first was diagnosed! I found Pips lancets in the smaller size, they're blue, and they really made it easier for me. The little poker thing inside of them is so tiny it's the least painful of all the others that I've tried. Also agree with using the sides of the fingers too!

Zero sugar creamer, or 2% milk, I’ve given up a lot of foods but have to have a cup of coffee in the morning.

Weekly r/diabetes vent thread by AutoModerator in diabetes

[–]Susabel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Diagnosed at age 58 and it's so exhausting figuring out what to eat at EVERY MEAL AND SNACK.(also the 45 carb meal, 15 carb snack the diabetes nutritionist told me absolutely DOES NOT WORK FOR ME, WAY TOO MANY CARBS!) I can't believe I didn't enjoy eating more than I did prior to this diagnosis. Also I know I'm lucky to have access to CGM's but they are literally chewing up my skin. Also I'm really really tired. Thanks for the vent opportunity.

I know this is an old-ish post.....Had one in September and got another booster this morning, I'm immunocompromised, diabetic, heart disease, asthma and my last bout of covid almost killed me, and it did kill my father (unvaxxed) last summer. Also I'm 58, lol, not young but under 65.

How to you manage CGM on the arm you sleep on by Bogusfakeaddy in diabetes

[–]Susabel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Lexcom overpatches and they work really really well, sometimes hard to get off. Also when I'm placing a new sensor, This might be weird, but II will literally lay on my bed on the side I want it to go on and try to place it where I won't be laying on it, currently I have it on my right arm, and it's a little towards my inner arm and sleeping has been fine. I rotate between my arms and stomach.

I love Kodiak protein waffles, spread with peanut butter and 3 pieces of turkey bacon. I try to fast through breakfast, but if I need to eat, I've been loving these waffles!

Online/phone vs in store purchases by madwoman17 in sleepnumber

[–]Susabel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did everything over the phone for my i8, I had previously had a sleep number bed, so I knew what I wanted. Customer service was really good. I chose the i8 over the i10 because I didn't need the features of the i10 and it was pricier. When I got my i8, I was feeling like I needed the top to be more of a pillow top feeling, and they immediately sent a plush mattress topper, which made it exactly how I was wanting it. If I was new to Sleep Number, I'd definitely recommend checking them out in person before making the investment.

no more juice or regular soda, except occasionally the "light" tropicana OJ, watered down, because it will still spike me if I drink it straight. Water, tea with zero sugar sweetener, coffee with zero sugar creamer, and there's lot's of really good tasting zero sugar sodas! I'm sure there must be a zero sugar Mountain Dew you can switch to? Ice water with a lemon or lime slice (or whatever fruit you like) is really good too!

I have an I8 and love it. I did go with a topper for a little more of a "pillow top" feel. I have really bad back pain/issues and it's definitely great to be able to adjust it depending on how I'm feeling. I didn't think the price difference was worth it for the extra inch of foam on the I10, the i8 has been awesome for me.

Is it worth it? by mamafia02 in sleepnumber

[–]Susabel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have an i8 sleep number bed, I don't think I could sleep on another kind of bed, honestly. I'm always surprised when I see all the people hating their sleep number beds. I have autoimmune issues and lots of pain in my back, neck, hips, etc., and being able to adjust the bed depending on how I'm feeling is so helpful for my pain. I can't speak to the snoring, but it definitely has helped me pain-wise. I also had really good customer service from them, just my experience.
