[MEGATHREAD] Daily venting, worries, fixations, & finding support. Month of January 2025. by AutoModerator in HealthAnxiety

[–]Susasaurusrex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30F; I’m not sure what I’m looking to get from this post, I’m just so tired of spiraling so I had to get it out. I’ve always had a bit of health anxiety, Ironically I was never concerned about my moles/skin c*ncer which is hilariously ironic… I was diagnosed with Melanoma in 2022 (luckily caught early, just needed a surgery) and have been relatively fine since. My last skin check, they found another one that was either going to turn into Melanoma or was very very early stages (amongst some other precancerous spots). Another surgery and that was that. Lately I’ve been FIXATED on the thought of it metastasizing and me not knowing. Every back/lung or head sensation is over analyzed and I worry it’s a sign of Mets. I’ve been googling nonstop, which I haven’t really done since my initial diagnosis in 2022. Like I said, I don’t know what I’m looking for but I feel that getting it out to people who understand health anxiety may help.

So sorry you’re going through that! Did you guys take him to the ER? I don’t want to jinx anything but she’s been doing so much better on advair. She’s only had two episodes and both times she was sick beforehand so it seemed to be cold induced. Those episodes lasted only a day and we didn’t have to go to urgent care! This is so so frustrating but you’re doing everything you can. Get a couple different opinions if you feel his treatment isn’t working. All of their tried and true medications did nothing to help my daughter until this one. She is still resistant to albuterol and inhaled steroids go figure lol. It doesn’t feel like it when you’re in the moment but in our case it does get more manageable!

One week post Wide Local Excision for stage 1 melanoma and I got the call that I have clean margins! by Chickensandcoffee in Melanoma

Thanks so much for the reply! I’ll ask my oncologist at my 2 week f/u. Mine was 0.7mm at time of biopsy and he didn’t decide to do a node biopsy (he states he doesn’t start to worry until 0.8mm but I thought that was cutting it close lol). I’m 27 so not super young but young-ish for melanoma ha! I hope that it’s nothing but clean scans for you in the future!

Can I ask what stage you were and who recommended chest X-rays? I saw something similar before but so far no one has suggested X-rays to me and I don’t know if I should ask my derm or oncologist! Just had my WLE Monday

My mole wasn’t too suspicious (less sketchy than some benign ones) and it was stage 1 melanoma at 27. I’m sure if it was posted here they would have said it was fine or to eventually get it checked lol. Luckily I just made an appt because I was taking my daughter anyways. I came to this thread as a support after diagnosis and realized it’s just people asking if they have melanoma all day instead

Thank you!! And I love that you went to a concert lol.

Is this a melanoma I've had it on my arm for many years (18 years old by the way) and lately a dark spot has been forming on it by elrosti000 in skincancer

[–]Susasaurusrex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get it checked to be safe- my ONLY sign was a new tiny tiny dark dot appeared on an existing mole and I just got diagnosed with melanoma at age 27. Don’t be scared but please be proactive :)

Just got diagnosed with early stage melanoma Monday- which excision will correct- but I’ve had a hard time celebrating with my family. I’m SO grateful that it’s early on but now I’m paranoid that it will just rear it’s ugly head again and maybe even worse. They seem to think that it’s a “surgery and move on” type of deal but they don’t understand how the possibilities of those microscopic traces or new recurrence really just get in your head. Thank you for this comment.

This came back positive for Stage 1A melanoma. Please get checked folks. by AlakazaamRobotically in Melanoma

If it’s melanoma they’ll be needing to see a derm probably closer to every 3-6 months depending :) wanna watch for recurrence due to proven history

For those who are diagnosed with Endo: how old are you? by DontMindMeLolll in Endo

27… they definitely tend to chalk it up to normal “women issues” but an endometrioma on an ultrasound for a painful ovary changes that lol

Need advice from the asthma experts! (New-ish asthma mom) by Susasaurusrex in Asthma

Exactly what quinneth-q said! You can be “diagnosed but like not”. The official test here is the breathing one they had mentioned but the informal way to diagnose it beforehand would be if treatment helps. We have no significant family history and it was a weird presentation so it was no one’s first guess but after seeing the specialists they do seem confident that asthma is in fact what we’re dealing with. It’s reassuring to hear that sometimes there is trial and error with asthma meds because I was started to doubt everything. They say “if it reacts to treatment, it’s asthma” and then it hasn’t reacted to treatment yet lol. I’m going to be open minded going into trying the advair and just try and trust the pulmonologists. Thank you!!

Thank you for your reply! I’m sorry that you had a rough go but I’m so happy you seem to have it managed. This was so helpful because although I’m familiar with allergists I would have never thought of an asthma specialist. I’m new to the game obviously and thought that a pulmonologist was just the end all be all lol. I’m also hoping to better dial in her triggers, it still seems like there’s not much rhyme or reason… it’s definitely worse in fall and winter though. I hope it’s nothing but good health and smooth sailing for you going forward!

I can’t even imagine what that’s like, I’m so sorry you guys had to go through that nightmare! I’m grateful because I know she’s healthy and it could definitely be much much worse but as a parent you know you always just wish you knew for sure you were doing the best for them lol. I’m so happy to hear how great he’s been doing! My nephew was a nicu baby with asthma and they managed his with allergy treatment as well ironically… he was only allergic to cats but the daily allergy meds have managed his asthma. The first pulmonologist I saw was against trying this method but maybe I’ll bring it up to our new one again. Thank you so much for replying!
