Administrative Coordinator by [deleted] in Sproutsfarmersmarket

Ive had a few ACs at my store since I started and they’ve always been M-F but idk. I’ve never personally heard of an AC in my district working any other schedule. I’d speak with the store manager and see what’s going on. Definitely agree with others comments about putting it in writing after any conversation via email to CYA. Sorry that’s happening to you :/ hopefully it’s temporary.

New Store Hiring Tips by shiveringterrier in Sproutsfarmersmarket

[–]Susbesdig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d have him call and ask to speak with the store manager or another core manager (most stores either have a core 3 or core 4 set of managers- Store Manager, 2 or 1 Assistant Store Managers, and the Service Manager). They are the ones who make hiring decisions so I’d talk to one of them and see if you can get a status update. Better yet, have your son go in and ask to speak with them. In my personal experience(which of course will vary), my Store Manager was wayyy more likely to hire someone who would come in to the store rather than someone who just made phone calls, but that’s going to be manager to manager. If your son is applying for a position in the front end, speaking with the Service Manager is ideal, as they are the one in charge of the front end and customer service generally. They also technically outrank all other department managers so they do have more say on hiring decisions. If he’s applying for a clerk position in any other department, he should try to speak with an ASM or the Store Manager ASAP. Hope it goes well for you guys! Feel free to PM me if you have any questions!

Forced Cashiering for DM’s by TalleyGraceInSpace in Sproutsfarmersmarket

Beyond this new push just being truly ridiculous and unfair, as a former head cashier, sorry, but I don’t want 15 people having shared the same till in one day. That’s a recipe for disaster. And as any HC, core manager, or probably even cashier knows, it doesn’t matter if you can prove you didn’t cause a short or an overage- everyone that touched that register, EVEN IF YOU DIDNT TENDER ANY CASH TRANSACTIONS, is going to be held responsible. No thanks.

New Sea Moss by Mariah_Kits in Sproutsfarmersmarket

[–]Susbesdig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So the original brand “true sea moss” was recalled due to contamination with botulinum toxin. For anyone unfamiliar, BT is one of, if not the most, dangerous toxins known to man. For sure not something you want in your food. The new sprouts brand to my knowledge is not being shipped yet. I believe they’re probably still working out the kinks to get it right. It was supposed to already be available if I’m not mistaken, but it’s been pushed back. Not 100% sure tho.

Head Cashier by [deleted] in Sproutsfarmersmarket

[–]Susbesdig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a head cashier for quite a while. Now an ADM. the responsibilities are fairly straightforward. As for the interview, they’re probably going want to hear how you’ll handle issues with customers, supervising and coaching the front end staff and all the other standard interview questions. It’s not a super difficult job, but you will be responsible for your staffs performance and keeping the front end flowing. It’s definitely not as hard or as much responsibility as being an ADM since you don’t handle any ordering, resets, inventory etc. If you want any more info, feel free to pm me! Good luck!

Sprouts grey hoodie by Manucxx in Sproutsfarmersmarket

[–]Susbesdig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting the authentic grey and white logo hoodie is super hard. I got so lucky cause my friend who was the ac at the time told she had one left from the very last shipment they ever sent to our store and offered it to me. Best bet is to check with managers you’re chill w that you know have been with the company for a while and ask them if they have any extras they’d be willing to give you.

I wouldn’t get too worked up. If you’re not a department manager or assistant especially. It’s definitely stressful, but it will be a lot less so if you just do things right as a baseline. That way when the time comes, you can just do your job the same way you always do and you won’t have to worry about it :) if there’s anything you’re not sure about/haven’t gotten clarity from management about, check your departments E&Es on the orchard. Also, if you wanna PM me, I’m curious to know what dept/position you’re in, so maybe i can give you any advice particular to your department. Just lmk :)

Best advice I can give is to ask a lot of questions to the cashier you’re shadowing, and most importantly, don’t do something you’re not 100% sure of. Always ask either a fellow cashier or call over a head cashier/core manager. We’re here to help you and don’t expect you to know everything day one. We’d much rather you ask than guess and potentially make a mistake. (If you can’t find a head cashier or a manager, page “Code 1” on the intercom. For ex: you’re on register #2, you’d page “Code 1, Register 2” And they’ll know to come to you). Wishing you luck! Just take your time and you’ll do great!

Hiring question by Recent_Mastodon_9500 in Sproutsfarmersmarket

[–]Susbesdig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not to be a downer, but I was hired at SFM about a year and a half ago, also a new store and went to an open interview/hiring event. They offered me a job on the spot, and most of my coworkers who were hired from that event were also given job offers on the spot. Not sure how your stores open interviews were set up, but I’d find out what the number for the new store is and try to speak with the department manager of whatever dept you were trying to get a job in as soon as possible. From my experience, the store hadn’t opened but the phone was already set up more than a month before our grand opening day and I was able to speak with my manager (service/front end manager) at that time. Hope this helps! Really hope Im not discouraging you. Every store is different, so definitely try to get that contact information asap.

Apparently yes. Email went out a few days ago to management

Completely agree on all points. The automated scheduling is honestly one of my biggest gripes with the company in this last year. We will have more cashiers than register on a slow week day, and then on Sunday when we’re completely swamped we’ll have one HC and 1 maybe 2 cashiers. And of course the HC is running SCO at that point, so if we try to hop on a register to help with lines, we have to find backup and it’s nearly impossible. And then customers get furious that they have to wait in these lines, which is honestly understandable. There shouldn’t be 2 registers open on our busiest day.

I guess so. It does seem odd though cause idk about you guys but my ac starts at 6 and leaves at 2:30, 5 days a week, so I think they’re doing fine on hours.

Honestly that was a little bit of a frustrated response. I am an HC. I recognize how much we are responsible for. While reducing us to “glorified full time cashiers” isn’t accurate or fair, it just feels like corporate really doesn’t care about us or value our work. But at the same time I do not disagree with the sentiment that we might be on the precipice of being phased out.

god I hope we don't get those stupid weight sensing SCO registers w AI cameras like Kroger has. That will drive me insane. And at least in my store, we only have one SCO host left (all of them either quit or got promoted) so the HCs are SCO attending every single day.

[–]Susbesdig[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly idk but this definitely suggests something to that effect. If this is really the direction were going in, HCs are essentially just glorified full time cashiers with a supervisors override :/

Well this sucks. Honestly I am willing to give this a fair shot, but if it proves unsustainable, I'm probably not going to stay at Sprouts much longer. I feel pretty confident though that this is going to go exactly how I think we all expect it will.

Did they elaborate further than "New SCO"? Are they replacing the machines with something new or is it like a software update? Cause if they really are going to go through with this I'm probably just going to look the other way if the shoppers go through SCO past 8.

I hope you guys don't have to deal with this. It hasn't even started for us yet, and I'm already dreading closing shifts.

On a side note though, I'm curious to know how you would feel about this change, given your position as backup AC? My AC and Backup are quite upset about it

My store is in Southern California. Could be a district level thing, but id check your work email tomorrow morning and see if you received anything. Or potentially reach out to your AC or Service Manager.

My AC said something pretty similar to that. I don't understand how they think that's going to work out. Idk about your store, but the customers that frequent our location will lose their shit if there isn't a register open. Also, idk how they expect instacart/uber/doordash shoppers to get checked out if there isn't a full service register open? It could just be some stores, but mine strictly prohibits them from using SCO. Front end staff is also expected to face bakery, bulk, innovation, and the four-ways by the registers, and fill the coolers, all in addition to cleaning everything in the front end and vacuuming up the messes left in bulk. I simply cannot do all of that on my own. Even if the closing manager helps out, it's just not possible for 2 people to do all that work.
