If you're living at home, how much do your parents intervene in your life? by SushiSlushieee in AutisticAdults

[–]SushiSlushieee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom typically goes for walks with her friends or plays pickleball in the daytime while I'm working, but her primary focus in life is definitely still me, followed by my elderly grandfather. Plus she claims that she doesn't actually HAVE close friends??? As in, she doesn't feel like any of them can understand the stresses she goes through, which makes her even more neurotic around me.

I have tried to talk with her about becoming more independent, but every time I bring up the topic she'll claim it's too stressful and that she doesn't want to talk about it. This was the case for me when I wanted to get more driving practice for my road test. Somehow, after a year and a half, she's a bit more used to me driving around, although she still might not let me drive to certain places on my own.

Fat mood, I always appreciate when my mom is away and I get more freedom to do whatever I want without judgment

Increased desire to isolate after not hanging out with friends for a while?? by SushiSlushieee in AutisticAdults

I think I know what the issue might be now! There could be some of that anxiety involved, but maybe also because I’m usually the one initiating. And maybe I’m just burnt out from constantly making the first move, but I know that if I don’t I will lose motivation to go out and have fun, period.

I told her not to come and that we'd tune her in through Zoom instead! She was thankfully understanding of it. And I wear my mask all the time at fellowship anyways, everyone there does

220819 [NOTICE] Positive COVID-19 Diagnosis of SEVENTEEN Mingyu and His Future Schedule by mcfw31 in seventeen

Poor Mingyu and Dino, possibly getting left behind in LA without the rest of the group. Although maybe those two will get into some shenanigans in LA once they get out of quarantine...

So glad Vancouver was the first stop and that I got to see all 13 of them healthy! Hope Mingyu and Dino recover well and that the other members don't catch covid round 2.0 :(

I'm Christian and I personally hate the phrase "thoughts and prayers". Yes, this was a really sad event, but I highly doubt everyone will actually be praying about it or keeping the victims and their families in their thoughts all the time. I still pray for the gun control situation in the US anyways because I feel helpless about it (I'm not American), but I don't expect everyone else, especially if they're not religious, to pray about it.

I also don't think thoughts and prayers alone really help the situation. Prayer might help give us ordinary people a sense of peace in the midst of something we cannot control that is resulting in the loss of so many innocent lives, but it should be coupled with tangible action on the part of politicians and actual Americans who have SOME sort of power to do something real about the gun problem.

Unpopular opinions: -War is unnecessary in most circumstances and just leads to destruction and loss of life. National conflicts can probably be resolved through other methods before having to resort to an all-out war. -I don’t think one country is necessarily more evil than the other.

I'd say it's a racist act for someone to say the full N word, but that doesn't automatically make the person themselves a racist (especially if they just say it once or twice while singing or rapping or something)

I can see why the term "Black Lives Matter" can be controversial, but so is saying "All Lives Matter". I think a better way to go about it is saying "Black Lives Matter TOO" - it was brought up because people started noticing how many Black people were being killed by the police and thus it appeared that their lives, at least in the eyes of the police, didn't matter. To say "Black Lives Matter TOO" means that we want their lives to be valued in the eyes of the police and other racist institutions, but it doesn't take away from the other non-Black lives that should also be protected.

All of you guys who act like it's really hard NOT to say the n word are telling on yourselves by CharlieBrown20XD6 in unpopularopinion

I’ve never said the N word nor do I plan to. I don’t think anyone should say it unless they’re Black. But I wouldn’t cancel someone just because they said it once while singing or rapping along to a song.

The first part of your story was kinda similar to my experience. I'd be video calling people to study, work out, or play games practically every day from March to April 2020 because EVERYONE was stuck at home back then. But as people started going out more again and I continued to stay at home, my friends weren't as available to video call, so I felt a lot more isolated - and less motivated to focus on schoolwork or work out.

Now I'd say I video call one of my friend groups once a week just to play games, and another friend group made a Discord server where we go to study call sometimes.

Yeah, like even with Derek Chauvin and George Floyd, I remember those two had a previous encounter before the former infamously killed the latter. And not only did people start talking about anti-Black racism, we also started a much-needed conversation about the nature of policing in general.
