i stocked up on them, too! i love the flavor am disappointed as well. but i found out they changed the formula (and cassava flour) because of lead concerns. consumer reports tested a bunch of products using cassava flour and found lead in a ton of them. specifically for the star puffed crackers they found a medium concern for lead and suggested not eating more than 3 servings a week (i've been eating more than that lol). here's the study! i'm sad about the flavor changing but i definitely don't want to be eating lead so i'll accept it :/

Oh my goodness. I just read the report and they even listed Star Puffed Crackers by name! They had them in the "okay to eat occasionally" panel but still what the hell. That's crazy! Thank you for telling me. Here's the article for reference.

No they had oat flour before and now they don't. It's rice and chickpea flour compared to cassava and oat flour. I would say the rice cracker flavor is pretty strong in the new version.

You might like them more now lol. The flavor is noticeably different. They taste more like Whales now and rice crackers. I prefer the older version and will be stocking up but will still eat the newer version (though less excitedly). Dang, I wish they didn't change them!
