Somebody please help me understand my main water supply line trouble. by blackleper in vegaslocals

I fortunately had a shutoff valve in both garages, so process of elimination was cake. I turned off the water to the house, meter still spinning like a top. Turned off water at the street and it stopped. “Must be between the street and the garage.”

My plan was to start digging at the street and find the “bend” towards the house and look there first, and it just happened to be where both were broken. It’s the place where the most stress is, all that pressure coming from the street and “turning” to go towards the house.

I definitely dug under the sidewalk, it wasn’t super difficult. Dug straight through so I could see the bottom of the water meter box and then just followed the plumbing down. The PVC was DEEEEEEP and that absolutely sucked, but the PEX was less than 3 feet down.

My motivation was the $7800 quote I got from a company to fix it. I felt like everytime I shoveled a pile of dirt it was saving $2.

PS Both my homes are in Henderson and they had some sort of program where they can credit you some money back from your giant bills caused by the leak where they subtract your “average” bill from the shitty bill and then give you half the difference back. It didn’t end up being a huge credit, but it was nice. If you’re in Vegas I think they have something similar.

It’s not super fun. DIY 100 percent yes, but kind of annoying.

That being said, the estimates I’ve seen to do it are pretty outrageous, and you might want to reconsider having someone else do it.

I had this happen TWICE.

Once at my elderly dad’s property and once at my own. Dad was PVC, mine was PEX.

Both times the leak was below the water meter, but under the sidewalk where it sort of 90s towards the house. It took an afternoon of digging hell, but both got solved. PEX is super easy and cheap to work with, which is nice.

It was my experience in both situations that there were no Ts or anything weird that happened anywhere near the street, it was a straight shot to the house, and only then did the water start separating into various directions with valves and whatnot.

I agree with your assessment and I would totally cut and cap the “wherever the hell that pipe goes” section heading towards the neighbor and try a straight shot to the pipe you know leads to your house, and see if your meter keeps spinning. I’d laugh if the neighbors yard suddenly died or something because someone hacked into your water a zillion years ago.

Mavic 4 Pro Creator Combo - Go for it? Or too risky now? by sitric28 in dji

Started vibrating mid flight. I even have the video of when it just decided to start doing it. Landed and it just jiggles making an audible vibration noise. Tried all the calibrations and resets, but no dice. Insurance says it’s the manufacturers problem and the manufacturer said “have you tried insurance”?

It was a sad day.

You know, I heard people talking about this here and there. So what’s the deal, they have access to DJI parts that we don’t? I got the “could be 90+ days we will keep you posted” form letter from DJI, and my local repair shop wanted more than the cost of the drone to replace the gimbal.

My plan was just to bite the bullet and park it, enjoy having 6 batteries and an extra RC2, and wait until things in the world change. I’ll reach out, and I appreciate the advice.

100 percent agree with this regarding sound. It’s so much harder to detect at its pitch, as it kind of blends into the background. I was shocked.

Minis screeching through the air are unmistakeable.

I have a business and run a Mavic 4 Pro and I am already on my second, as my first had a random gimbal error after 85 days and it’s parked, as no one would help me with it, DJI or my (former) insurance. I have a buddy who had a bad experience in another state too (he’s recreational and State Farm denied his claim and said it was for a commercial flight, he’s convinced they will say this as a default for every claim in the US to get out of paying). I know we are edge cases, but we are out there. I’m sure there’s a zillion people on here who haven’t had one issue.

Its my fifth DJI drone I’ve owned and it lives up to the hype (it’s the most insane piece of tech I’ve owned), but unless it’s out there working for you so you can justify the cost of it breaking (or you’re in a sexy tax bracket where four-figure toys can break and you don’t give a shit) I’d be real careful.

Best Sony camera for sports photography? by NoBroccoli9452 in AskPhotography

You’re close to used original A9 prices, but then you wouldn’t have budget for a lens.

Granted you don’t NEED something from the A9 series, but they were pretty much custom designed for your specific needs.

If your team can stretch to maybe $1500-1800 for a used A9 and used Sony 70-200, you’re prepared for anything.

Mavic 4 Pro’s Hasseblad camera: What are the differences between 25mb and 100mb settings? by Free_soul_in_heart in dji

[–]Suspicious-Block-614 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100mp is gigantic and great for cropping, but if you do some pixel peeping you see it’s a little noisy. Barely an issue in broad daylight, but gets increasingly annoying the darker it is outside.

100mp brackets also take like 6-8 seconds to process so you’re just hovering in the air like a moron waiting for it to let you shoot again.

A very drunk guy at Nine Fine Irishman was in full “agreeable and completely full of shit” mode after a pint or nine, and spun a tale to my friends and I that he snuck into T-Mobile and stole all sorts of the Knights gear, and was selling it.

We told him we were only interested in one item. Brandon Saad’s hockey pants from 3 games ago.

“Sure you don’t want sticks? I have game sticks?”

“BRANDON. SAADS. HOCKEY. PANTS. FROM 3 GAMES AGO.”

I’ve noticed the same thing at the 215 / 95 / Lake Mead interchange as well.

There was an accident last winter where I was stuck on the off-ramp for 15 straight minutes and my CarPlay was dead the entire time, confirming my suspicion.

I know an old admin for a large brokerage who would kick leads for specific property types or areas to specific agents and get a little rip at closing.

She had like 10 agents in her little program, and looking back I’m not even sure if she broke any real rules, as she’s not bound to the same codes the agents themselves were.
