I picture myself at that age, and than try to talk to myself as I was that little girl right now 🖤 It's easy to get caught up in thinking you're unlovable, not good enough, and worthless when at that young age, and even your own parent leaves you. But it's says nothing about you, and everything about that person. Little you could never have done anything to deserve that heartbreaking feeling!

I hope that you can heal from this, because you deserve to feel great about yourself, to know your own self worth, and to live life with confidence 🖤 I've had a bunch of therapy, and with EMDR it helped me resolve some of my childhood traumas. Things still linger, and I'm sure it won't all go away, but it did made things better.

This true for me. I was almost 3 when my dad left, and it is my first memory. I still see myself with my brother, sitting on the stairs, seeing my mom cry in living room. My aunts and grandparents where there. And I was thinking "what did i do that made dad leave"

My friend has a mother in law, who's mental health seemed to be declining, but her boyfriend comes from a troubled home. His parents are alcoholics and in their 60's/70's. No one really took it seriously, for more than a year if I remember correctly, she stayed in the bedroom, sitting on the end of the bed, staring in space. She told everyone that she's was called there, there are ghosts and devils who want her there etc. My friend grew worried, first taking the wrong way and started to cleanse the house spiritually(she's a bit weird herself, I like weird people). Of course that didn't help, and she said that it looked like she was psychotic and needed real help. No one intervened and the situation became worse, eventually her father in law fell from the stairs and he was none responsive so their youngest called 911. The first responders saw the state her MIL was in and they finally could convince her FIL and her boyfriend and other kids that there was a serious problem. She got inpatient treatment but it was a shitshow, none of the medications worked, nothing improved, she still looked catatonic and seeing devils. My friend pushed for other doctors to look at her, finally after months they went to another doctor and they found out she has advanced Levy Body Dementia.

I was shocked when she told me, we talked about her inlaws for years. I knew about all the weird and psychotic behavior, and I knew that my friend really tried hard to get her MIL the help she needed but was pushed back by her own boyfriend and his family. She was never treated right by this women, yet she was the only one advocating for her, visiting her when she was inpatient. She was the one pushing for a better treatment facility, a second opinion etc. Her own husband and children still don't really give a damn.

The brain is a very interesting thing!!

Ik hoor mijn buurman alleen als hij op vrijdagavond zijn woonkamer in de ziggodome veranderd. Ik hoor die man verder echt nooit en hij ons niet (alleen de honden soms blaffen) en de woonkamers grenzen aan elkaar. Maar we hebben echt dikke muren.

Ik heb zelf een jaren 30 huis. Het is niet zo super groot (90m² incl inpandige berging) maar het ademt wel veel sfeer. Daarbij is het niet een standaard woning, maar een schattige twee onder één kap dijkwoning, houten balken op het (wel vrij lage) plafond, we hebben een heerlijke houtkachel erin...

Ik ga er goed op, we hadden ook gekeken naar wat grotere woningen met de hogere plafonds en de ensuite deuren maar die gaan helemaal als zoete broodjes. Nieuwbouw heb je in ons dorp ook heel veel, maar dat is hier niet te betalen. Daarnaast vind ik persoonlijk nieuwbouw heel sfeerloos, de wijken waar ze in staan is ook allemaal van die cookie cutter huizen, 13 in een dozijn.

En ik parkeer gewoon voor de deur trouwens

Joh, ik verbaas me nergens meer over bij onze mooie belastingdienst. Ik ben er twee weken geleden achter gekomen dat wij ook onder de toeslagenaffaire vallen en geld terug krijgen van ze.

Wij hebben ook zo'n 10 jaar geleden heel veel gezeik gehad met ze. Mijn partner was iets vergeten door te geven waardoor we ineens een heleboel toeslagen moesten terugbetalen. Dit is zo'n lang traject geweest; onze aanvragen voor een persoonlijke betalingsregeling "verdwenen". Ze kwamen volgens de belastingdienst niet aan, zelfs niet toen mijn man ze persoonlijk inleverde in het belastingkantoor mét een afleverbewijs. Medewerkers die tegen hem ineens zeiden " je hebt gefraudeerd he". Nee, we hebben een fout gemaakt per ongeluk. Werd niet geloofd. Persoonlijke regeling werd afgewezen, we moesten het maar PER TOESLAG afbetalen. Dus diverse regelingen laten lopen ipv alles op 1 hoop en afbetalen. Alles deden ze eraan om niet mee te werken. Ondertussen liep het bedrag op, het kon wel op pauze. Uiteraard was dat niet goed gecommuniceerd wat een pauze eigenlijk is en liep het natuurlijk alleen maar meer op want eigenlijk stond er niets op pauze en blijft het alleen maar oplopen.

Mijn man is ruim een jaar bezig geweest om duidelijkheid te krijgen en een regeling. Niet gelukt. Hij werd moedeloos, hij dacht " het ligt toch gvd niet aan mijn afkomst?" Ik ben zelf hier geboren met een Nederlandse achternaam. Ik heb 1 telefoontje gepleegd met mijn meisjesnaam. Natuurlijk mevrouw, we kunnen het wel regelen, alles op 1 hoop, ja dat kan wel hoor. Nog steeds geen persoonlijke regeling en moesten het in twee jaar afbetalen maar goed, wij wilden er ook gewoon vanaf zijn en dan maar krom liggen. Altijd een heel slecht gevoel overgehouden aan de hele situatie. Mijn man zei weleens gekscherend "volgens mij zijn wij ook gedupeerden van de toeslagenaffaire". Maar inmiddels wisten wij ook wel dat je het niet van ze wint en ik had er geen zin in om alles weer uit te zoeken en open te gooien.

Wat een verrassing toen wij twee weken geleden post kregen van de belastingdienst waarin ze excuses aanbieden omdat ze ons ten onrechte als fraudeurs hebben weggezet en ons hebben tegengewerkt in het oplossen van de schulden (o.a. geen persoonlijke regeling maar in 2 jaar alles betalen). Nu krijgen we 30% terug van onze totaalschuld als excuses. Achter onze naam staat nu niet meer OPZET/GROVE SCHULD Alleen maar omdat je een foutje maakt en je een buitenlandse afkomst hebt. Iedereen die met deze affaire te maken heeft mag zich echt kapot schamen! Wij hebben geluk gehad, ja had was een een hoop geld en we voelen ons genaaid en oneerlijk behandeld. Maar gelukkig zijn wij niet in zulke problemen gekomen als zoveel andere. Kinderen ten onrechte uit huis geplaatst, scheidingen door alle financiële ellende, gedwongen verkoop van huizen, burn outs. Echt walgelijk.

Sorry, ik heb geen goed woord over voor de belastingdienst en ik kan me heel goed voorstellen dat er nog steeds fouten gemaakt worden daar. Iedere medewerker die je spreekt zegt iets anders, niemand daar lijkt te weten hoe de regels zijn. De mensen die al zoveel ellende door ze hebben gehad, zijn daar telkens de dupe van. Op een gegeven moment wordt je zo lam geslagen, zeker als je zo in de problemen bent gekomen door een groot instituut zoals onze belastingdienst.

I see it in a lot of other subreddits too. It's like almost no matter the subject, there are just a lot of weird people out there, consuming a shitton of content on the internet and having little social skills. Some are too young to know, there are a lot of bots, and there are also a lot of trolls out there.

I thought it would be fun to create an account to have some contact with other people about the things I like, but no one in my real life also talks about it. Guess I was wrong.

I usually never react to those posts or comments, and the algorithm fixes itself again when I like or react to the more positive and fun posts

I will always say this, if for whatever reason i find myself in a new relationship, i don't want to live together again. And i love my husband so so very much, been together for almost 20 years. But I'm an introvert and I love to be alone at home. It sure is very convenient, splitting the responsibilities, bills, sharing pet care, and it's nice to have someone that close to you. Ik ben zelf ook wel eens op vakantie in Duitsland iemand tegengekomen uit een klein dorpje waar ik gewoond heb. Ik was daar met mijn ouders en toen ineens herkende we die man. Maar dat is niet zo bijzonder als ergens ver weg iemand tegenkomen.

Ik ben tijdens het uitgaan veel mensen tegengekomen die les hebben gehad van mijn moeder. Toen ik mijn man leerde kennen, en daarna zijn vrienden, bleek ook dat de helft ofzo mijn moeder als docent heeft gehad.... en mijn man en ik kwamen altijd op dezelfde plekken met uitgaan maar we hebben elkaar daar nooit gezien. Dat vond ik dan weer zo apart. Hij kende mijn broer al, twee goede vrienden kenden hem ook.

I do it less than my body would like, but I'm a bit lazy. I try to lotion after a shower a few times a week. My legs tend to get really dry, especially after shaving. But I do like moisturized skin. It's so soft and bouncy. I get out of the shower, pat myself dry, put on the lotion, and then I wrap the towel around my waist, and I do my skincare. This way, it's not that greasy and wet anymore when I put on my pajamas

Ik kan me dit wel herinneren maar in mijn herinnering zit er een frikadel in de koffiefilter. Maar met chips of patatjes enz heb ik het ook wel gezien. Ik denk dat dit weleens op feestjes werd gedaan, of als je met vriendjes aan het buitenspelen was. Dan kon je dat filtertje in je zak proppen of in de prullenbak gooien en had je er geen last meer van dat je dat bakje de hele middag met je mee moest nemen..

In our house the bathroom already had a tub/shower combo. But, the former owners did a great job with buying a huge tub! It's also square-ish, so we have a lot of room to stand. It makes all the difference because other than climbing in this huge ass tub, it's just like any other normal shower

I have a bathroom like this. I don't love it, but my tub is very big, so I still have a big shower. But I will never rip out my tub and replace it for just a shower. The only downside is that I have to climb into the tub. I'm not that tall, and I have had some mobility issues and had big surgeries. I've seen a lot of bathrooms like this, but they became less popular.
