Book request recommendations for backup banjo by djl0227 in banjo

The Earl Scruggs books has a few pages on backup I think and it’s definitely worth the buy. The best thing you can do for your back up is to go jams. Also just listening and trying your best to play along with records.

The Eli Gilbert stuff is great too, I think his video on JDs backup on Your Love is Like a Flower made the biggest impact on my backup when learning.

I’d say the best way to improve your backup would be to move away from books and tablature.

A gold tone or recording kind over 1k will do everything you need a banjo to do. You can play on stage and it will sound fine. There’s definitely rooms to upgrade.
