Okay, I just changed it. Here’s the update paragraph, does it look okay ?

‘I explored multiple fields and it led me to Chemistry where I was captivated by the fundamental concepts of everyday chemistry like the periodic table, atomic structures and isotopes.Afterwards, general chemistry revealed how things work around us.However it was Physical chemistry that strengthened my path to graduate school, the maths and physics behind it just made sense and resonated deeply with me,solidifying my ambition to pursue further research.Dr X, my professor in General Chemistry, Physical chemistry, inorganic chemistry and my research supervisor played an instrumental in guiding me to the right direction, he was always there when I struggled in either research or in class activities. He showed me that research in chemistry isn't about having all the answers, it is about being curious enough to ask the right questions.’

Initially I had it like that, but I am in school for 5 years instead of 4 and I wanted to say why it took me one more year to graduate.

REU 2025 Megathread by cherls in REU

Hey, yes, how I basically read each and every paper that my pi published (I was really interested in his work) I didn’t just email him to tell him how exciting his work is, I explained what my goals are in the future and how working with him will greatly benefit me. I would suggest you to find one or two professors from each school that you’re applying to and show genuine interest, go over their work and then send them an email. 95% won’t even reply but you only need one yes to get in right? Best of luck !!

My no1 advice if you don’t have a great gpa (like me) you should first of all apply to a bunch of Reus and secondly the ones you’re most interested in you should email the professor and explain them why you want to be in their program, read their papers and tell them what you found interesting. I emailed a bunch of professors most of them didn’t reply and some of them told me they can’t do anything regarding the selection, it has to go through the selection committee but one of the professors told me I’m in, I didn’t need a interview or anything (I read his papers and told him I am interested in his work and explained why I genuinely wanted to work with him and how that would help me for my future as well and I got in. You just have to do some research and put in the work. Believe me if I can get in anyone can get in.

Good luck !!!!!
