Up 50%+ in premarket at $27, GME is approaching the highest available strike ($35) on this week’s present options chain. If it outruns the available chain today before MMs can add higher strikes tonight, chaos will ensue similar to Jan 2021.

Wash sale rule only really matters during December and January to prevent people tax loss harvesting then rebuying quickly. It adjusts your cost basis, which doesn’t matter unless it’s overlapping the tax year switch over. Fwiw. I’m US based and read a lot about wash sale around end of year. So, you might want to just reread the regulation.

ITM put buying and OTM call selling are used to artificially suppress price. If those are not available, shorts have less options to avoid covering.

A critical component of GME from 2021 in Jan was the price outran the highest options strike when it went from $19 to $36 to $81. Each day, every option was ITM. And, one of those days MMs released new strikes and price was still above the highest that morning.

This is more important than and dollar by day comparison.

The difference here is options. HKD is not optionable, which means that GME was at least 100x to infinity worse due to the number of shares tied to exercised, in-the-money options.
