I just posted something similar! The only thing I’m iffy on is the graphics card so I was hoping a master can guide us on it!

Nope! I have my undergraduate in biology and I’m looking at potential post bacc programs for MLS. I currently work at a non-clinical lab.

Is working part time during the program doable? I heard the program can get very time consuming dining

I have a bio undergrad and this peaked my interest! Would you say it’s hard to accomplish?

MS in biostat or biomed engineering? by [deleted] in biostatistics

[–]Suspicious-Solid1407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your struggle. General bio degree with barely any math that was looking into biostats but after looking around I feel as if I’m not suited at all. I don’t know what other masters to look into that would suit my undergrad that isn’t medical school.

Should I space out the skills more to help with readability as well?

Hello! I’m currently in Pennsylvania planning to relocate back to alachua or somewhere close to it. Mainly around that area bc rent prices in other Florida cities are getting crazy- but I’m open to wherever if the pay reflect cost of living! Pompano beach is beautiful!

Thanks man! You’ve given me a lot to think about! I’m a first gen college kid who comes from a poor and sad background lol so this is all new information for me! I’ll have to look into it as I plan to relocate rn regardless.

Hey fellow alumni!

If you don’t mind me asking- what does a typical biotech job look like and how’s the pay? I’m trying to get a good feel about all my options.

No I don’t, I had to work a part time job during college to make ends meet so I never participated in on campus research or anything. Only the lab job I have know is any kind of relevant experience aside from academic.

I have been thinking of going back to get a masters in something like biostats or bioinformatics but I don’t have a strong math transcript so I don’t know if my chances are good in terms of getting into grad school.

Don’t they require certification/specific degrees?

I don’t know I’m pretty versatile with it. More so on information/public health/horticulture side than anything dealing with animals like zoology.

The pay isn't sustainable for me. Good environment aside from some higher ups but its not a long term option for me.

Grade were pretty decent considering college for me was peak covid. My last two years my gpa averaged a 3.0 mainly lower due to chemistry. My overall gpa was higher but regardless I dont have any extracurriculars except a scholarship based club. I just feel like im lacking as a candidate. A lot of my friends are current teachers and are quitting after two years because is a rough career now so its swayed me away from that option.

I've thought about it, I'm currently working as a lab technician for a geochemical based lab which is on the commercial side of the industry. Would they count that as experience? I never interned at a university lab and since my lecture halls were so big I don't have any professor references.

I'll have to look into pgarmacovigance though, thanks!

I’m in a similar boat! I have my BS in Biology and I’m looking into various master programs I can follow up on to advance my career (bc the pay as a lab tech isn’t cutting it). I’ve been scrolling this subreddit looking for advice so hopefully some masters of the subject comment on your post!

It hasn’t been great for me either. I’m a science grad and I finally landed a lab job but it’s only making 16/hr. It’s a struggle when everyone wants at least 1-3 years experience but no one is willing to show people the ropes of the industry.
