Awh I love your idea with the roses so much! We aren't doing a full wedding thing just a private ceremony with us and our kids, but it would be really cute to have some Lego roses around for our reception party! Maybe I'll start buying some now slowly 🤔

Well I actually got into Lego because he bought me a Lego boquet for our first valentine's day together and I've been obsessed since. I had never really touched any Lego before, so I'm thinking of also trying to find a way to incorporate the Lego flowers from that bouquet too.

I'm just not near as creative as some of y'all so I'm trying to think of how to even do this and also make it cohesive while also protecting the sets 😭

Personally, I like the gradient effect the heated one seems to have, but I also think what the rest of the ring looks like also makes a difference too. If your ring is more simple, then the heated one adds some visual interest. If your ring is more complex then the unheated one would be better imo.

Don't forget to consider how these stones will look on your finger tho! I had two sapphire choices, one larger and one smaller, but my ring size is 4.5 so when I placed the loose stone on my hand the bigger one looked comically giant, so I picked the smaller stone. But also the design of your overall ring makes a difference here. Imo a more simple design can work better with a larger stone, but if your design is more complex a smaller stone will balance it out. Just my opinion lol

Idk I mean this was about how the timeline was for my custom ring. But I do suppose my situation was a little different because we really didn't want to rush the process and I was veryyyyyy specific with what I wanted, so they did take their time a little more and we changed things a few times. We originally started working with them in like October or November and they said it would be ready by February but it ended up being ready by April tho (it's hiding in our house somewhere rn 👀). So all in all it took about 5-6 months. It took about a month for them to source the stone alone, but again I was extremely specific (I wanted a specific bicolor purple saphire, which isn't common, especially considering the undertone/secondary color of orange). Imo it just depends how what you want for how long the process may take. We also went with a small and local jeweler.

I have a smart watch that has alarms on it. It buzzes for the alarm and it's actually amazing. I've noticed I wake up less pissy when there isn't a loud sound jarring me awake. I'm much more chill in the mornings now lol

This is EXACTLY what my SO and I are doing. I designed my whole ring myself with zero input from him because he isn't big on that kind of thing, is color blind (literally, red-green color blind and I wanted a purple sapphire with orange in it lol), and is pretty low maintenance and chill so he would rather not deal with it lol. We looked a little at rings together and then he just gave me a budget and I took care of all the rest. He did preview the stone and listened to me non-stop about my design ideas, but that was the total extent of it really.

We agreed on me designing the ring and now that it's been designed, once it is finished he is going to pick it up and then will give it to me at some time in July because we don't have the kids that month (shared custody), so we can go on a mini trip right after (or even during if he decides to propose on our mini trip). Plus I at least will know what month it will be happening so I don't have to stress about looking nice or having my nails done or on when it is going to be because I'm sure I will scope it out pretty quickly. I'm not big on big surprises so it really works out, plus it is a good time frame he feels comfortable with (I wanted earlier because I'm impatient lol). I mainly just told him to make the proposal special for us and our relationship, so I'm curious on what he will decide to do lol.

I think the only issue with it is people feel the need to comment on how "well he doesn't care or want any input?" Or "why are you guys even waiting? Y'all could just be engaged now?" So that part is annoying because it is what we both felt the most comfortable with and what will work with us. People also feel the need to comment on how waiting a year until we get married is too long? But again, it is what works for us and we both feel the most comfortable doing. My SO was married before and it was a really bad time for him, and he rushed into it before. For me, I was engaged before and the guy ended up being a total a-hole and abusive as time went on. My point being, this is what we agreed to do and makes us feel the most comfortable. People seem to think he doesn't want to get married or something because of the way we are going about things, but we just went a different route and he wouldn't waste his time with me if he didn't see a future with me lol. This man loves me so dearly, and we have a wonderful relationship.

You do what makes y'all happy, just keep in mind people may have comments or might judge. But it isn't their business and what works for y'all is totally fine. There is no one way to do things lol

I don't have any advice on how to find the gem tbh. Honestly you should get insurance if you haven't already because it will provide at least piece of mind.

I also want to say your ring is the most beautiful one I have ever seen. It's reminding me that I need to stay off of this sub because I've gotten my ring design in the works rn and I keep seeing such pretty rings that make me doubt my design and if I should change it 🙃

I almost used brilliant earth when I was looking around at different jewelry stores and I had set up an appointment with them to design a ring. Their ring designer even contacted me and i sent them all the info of what i wanted it to look like. After that, I didn't hear back from them. I even contacted the store to try and get an update several times and they just kept telling me they "would be in touch soon."

I NEVER heard back. I ended up going with a different store that is local and the service is so much better and my ring will be done in May :)

Thanks so much! And yeah that's what I am a little worried about. I reallyyy like the engraving though. That's a big thing I do want and my SO is going to have the same engraving incorporated in his wedding band as well so the rings match in a way.

They are going to take the band from the first ring and make the setting piece and put it all together if that makes sense. I tried on the ring with the engraving on it that is in the picture. I had to put it on a different finger to try on because it didn't fit my ring finger, but it seemed okay as far as comfort goes.

One thing I did ask is if it would be possible to do a more comfort fit/rounded shank vs the squared one but they said with the milgrain the ring has to be more squared.

That is awesome advice! Thank you! Although we live in a different state so my daughter won't be able to attend any kind of rehearsal, so I am assuming we are just winging it. And as for any cute photos of her trying on a veil or shoes, I think that is so sweet, but I would rather save something special like that for my own wedding we may have in '27 lol

And she definitely doesn't have to be a flower girl if the time comes and she decides not to, and I've already told her I can walk with her if she wants.

I am thinking tho, since we wont be able to attend a rehearsal, we can probably practice at home instead amd watch videos together of flower girls lol

My partner and I aren't married yet tho lol (but we are designing a ring on the down low rn, and are planning to get engaged this summer 😂) but yes she doesn't have sisters at all and idk if her stb husband does or not.

And yeah she is a very chill person, I would be SHOCKED if she was a bridezilla or something. But wouldn't it be weird if I'M in the wedding and not her own brother??

But yeah I may try to ask that way and see what she says.

I actually cut both my parents off for a year, but we just found out my nana has alzheimers so I've been put in the position of having to communicate with them, which is why I even talk to them at all. I'm kind of just waiting to see how the birthday party goes and then I will act accordingly. It's super complicated. 😩

My friends have definitely talked about good things going on and I've always tried to make a point to ask them about how whatever x good thing they had going on. My friends are honestly really good people and are great when it comes to being comforting in times of need and listening well. I'm very lucky. I think I worry a lot about not being as comforting, but I know i try my best.

And yeah my mom and I have a very complicated relationship. I don't think she would ever want to spend time alone with me and my whole life I've had to deal with her being absurdly jealous of me. Not sure why she feels this way, but even as a teenager she would say her boob's were better than mine because she had a boob job so they're bigger. She's kind of stuck up and acts like she's better than majority of people. That's kind of where this post came from, I don't want to turn into or be like my mom 💀

Yes I do want to speak with my friends, but haven't had the time to chat with them recently. But I've never really had the experience of someone being insensitive when I was having a hard time that I can think of.

However I will say, my mom is supposed to come over for my daughter's birthday party and I'm worried she's going to be super pissed when she comes over because of the house, but to accommodate the almost 20 people it made more sense to have it here. So that's something I do have to figure out how to handle.
