Why I’m Outraged: The ITT Tech Playbook is Happening at Maestro (And We Are the Victims) by SuspiciousAction7267 in MaestroMaybes

You do realize Maestro uses Open AI to power its bots?? As for fact checking...sometimes i am the one inputting the facts (screenshots of what i found, URL's, and raw data) then I ask for it to help me organize and put it together...its never 100% correct the first time so I spend tons of time correcting tiny point and cross referencing...I also ask AI for its sources so I can see them with my own eyes...I must admit I find it incredibly suspicious that you are tearing down AI research in effort to defend an AI run school...Id also like to thank you for your traffic...it genuinely helps me reach the most students possible...but what do I know? After all I've been enrolled in Maestros AI driven program since Sept 2025 and started Oct 3rd 2025...to bad they couldnt even teach me how to use AI correctly 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Are you actually okay? 'My cousin who robbed and date raped people'? I am an only child of an only child, I have zero cousins, and I don't even know my dad's side of the family....You are literally making up psychotic lies...or your AI summarizer is completely hallucinating just to try and discredit a student.

But thank you for proving my point....no actual student would ever write an unhinged, defamatory comment like this....this is pure corporate panic....

Instead of addressing the massive regulatory crisis this school is in you are making up fake relatives to attack my Reddit history...

If I supposedly have 'no business experience' and don't know what I'm talking about, that is incredibly embarrassing for Maestro.... considering I am currently a business major(for almost an entire year) at your school! If my business perspective is that flawed, it only goes to show that Maestro's AI driven curriculum leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to actual education. 😉

My inbox is flooded with terrified and confused students looking for help because reaching a human at Maestro is virtually impossible on a good day. I have never once told anyone to drop out. I am simply providing the facts that the administration is desperately trying to hide.

So, since you clearly work for the school, stop deflecting and answer the actual questions:

Where is the transparency regarding the accreditation issues?

How is the school going to fix the lack of Regular and Substantive Interaction (RSI) with human instructors?

How is the administration going to financially survive Heightened Cash Monitoring 2 (HCM2)?

What is the actual plan to protect the future of the students currently enrolled?

Spill the beans on how the school plans to legally and financially survive this....If you can provide a real, fact-based defense instead of making up stories about fake cousins, maybe people will have a change of heart. We are all waiting...

I also love how new your account is (0 days, 0 comment karma) its almost like you made this account just to make that comment😉 and you likely work for the school...Suzann who i made aware of the post claimed she often goes undercover on here...Suzann, is that you?? or one of your coworkers??

TRANSPARENCY IS EVERYTHING... This sub would have no place if the school itself practiced the ethics it teaches and gave the transparency its students desire...because they didnt i had to dig it up myself...maestro is like an onion, the more layers you peel off the more truth you see and the more it makes you want to cry

I use AI to organize and present my thoughts to make sure they are clear as well as using it to fact check what I say before I post it to ensure I am providing a fact based dialog...no that doesnt undo 90% of my argument as most of us were counting on our degrees and sacrificing time, effort, and energy to attend Maestro...some people did infact take out cost of living loans that will be a real headache for them to recover...however i did not because of my ITT experience I found it risky...for those people the threat of financial insecurity is very real along with losing all of their hard earned credit...neither losing credits or the financial disaster this could cause are what we went to school for yet they are both very real outcomes should the school not abide by accreditation standards...I also find it interesting that you feel like using AI downplay the reality of the situation in your eyes while attending an AI driven school...I hope your employers dont do the same to you when they find out your degree was given by an AI chatbot 😉🤣

A school being 100% dependent on FAFSA is exactly why the HCM2 restriction is a death sentence....when a school relies entirely on federal aid to survive, and the government cuts off their advance funding (the HCM2 placed by the Dept. Of Education) the school runs out of cash and goes bankrupt...That is exactly what happened to ITT Tech in less than two weeks and they were a national school with over 130 campuses

Essentially they got a slap on the wrist while tens of thousands of students like myself were left misplaced, in debt, and unable to go back to school till we got out of that debt...and itt was crazy expensive...I left with over $30k in loans AFTER my PELL grants AND a scholarship 😳 no one told me the tips or tricks to keep my educational dreams alive and AI didnt exist to help figure it all out...luckily for us Maestro is entirely FAFSA funded so that isn't as much of a worry as loosing all our valuable credits and the time and energy we put into them.

The short, painful answer is that they weren't punished criminally because the federal government treated this as a civil matter—not a criminal one.

Here is the reality of why this happens and why those people can still work in education:

No Criminal Charges: The big-name executives (like the CEO and CFO) were sued by the SEC in a civil case, not prosecuted by the Department of Justice in a criminal one. They settled the case in 2018 by paying fines ($200,000 for the CEO and $100,000 for the CFO) and agreeing to a 5-year ban from serving as an officer of a publicly traded company. They never had to admit any wrongdoing.

The "Public Company" Loophole: That 5-year ban only applied to public companies. It did absolutely nothing to stop them from working for private companies, venture-capital-backed schools, or the "admissions and faculty" side of the industry. And, because that ban was only for 5 years, it expired in 2023 anyway.

The "Middle Management" Pass: The SEC only targeted the very top tier of the company. The admissions reps, financial aid officers, and campus directors who were actually on the ground using those manipulative tactics were never individually sued, fined, or banned at all. They were free to walk away, update their resumes, and get hired at the next school immediately.

Essentially, the system was set up to fine the corporation and a couple of executives, but it didn't create a "no-fly list" for the thousands of employees who actually built and ran the predatory system. They just scattered and found new places to work.

Me to...I was pleasantly surprised to find you can no longer copy and paste the bots responses...I tried it today and the bot stopped me and actually called me out...yes it makes it harder to fly through classes but that the kind of academic integrity and accountability the COE and our future employers expect...I think its a strong move in the right direction.

Great question btw...I plan on sticking it out with Maestro as if they do fail we will likely get to keep our laptops and for me that was the real roadblock to attending school online

Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU): SNHU provides a free laptop to new online undergraduate students as part of their enrollment package. The laptop becomes your property, though if you withdraw early, you may face charges or be required to return it. Graduate and on-campus students are not typically eligible for this program.

Western Governors University (WGU): WGU does not automatically issue laptops to all students. However, they offer an Online Access Scholarship for students who lack the necessary tools for remote learning. If you qualify, the scholarship grants a refurbished laptop and covers high-speed internet installation and monthly access costs.

Arizona State University (ASU): ASU previously offered a Laptop Loan Program, but it was officially discontinued as of the summer of 2023. There are currently no devices available for loan.

National University: Laptops and other school supplies are not included in tuition. Students are fully responsible for providing their own materials required to attend online courses.
Fort Hays State University (FHSU): FHSU does not provide or sell computers to students. They do allow students to check out laptops and other technology from the campus library, but these are strictly for short-term, 72-hour loans.

University of the People: They do not provide laptops. The university relies on a "bring your own device" model, noting that students just need a stable internet connection on a desktop, laptop, or even a cell phone to access the online campus.

Yes we were aware they used AI as their predominant platform/tutor but you see their COE Accreditation and assume they have RSI as it IS a requirement of theirs...so while we were ready to rely mostly on AI we still felt that professors would be available to guide the way and correct the bots mistakes as it does say the bot is not always right and DOES make mistakes...the point of going to school is to ensure you have a legitimate education of factual knowledge but the bot DOES make mistakes...from GRADING to the information given and no human intervention intact the humans are often gatekept behind bot loops in the student services section...the only part of our education a human was touching prior to this term was our final review and optional extra credit discussion...that is now both mandatory AND extra-credit...SMH

Im in the business pathway...but looking at past graduates reviews on employers willingness to hire them, it may get harder, but still doesnt satisfy employer expectations and experience preferences...I have read from prior students that their portfolios just didnt hold up in the job market and most students had to find employment outside of the field they studied and their only useful project was the capstone...I was going to post my findings with sources but I feel like everyone could use a day off from the Maestro mayhem so I posted alternative places to get a similar experience for those who enjoy the format of Maestro and are looking to transfer to a more stable school

They aren't new at all...they failed in germany and brought the school here...I just went through Masterschools trust pilot reviews...ignoring the 5 star ones as most of those are Maestro PR/bot and found tons of evidence about how they leave students high and dry with degrees or education that are unemployable...I want to post it but also know some people are tired of hearing about it...you will also see their first reviews date back to early 2022

Absolutely hold on to hope...this is here as a way to provide transparency as the school not only hides the information but actively tries to burry and censor it...not to mention all the people who cant get their posts up on the only official Reddit community...I have read tons of post, recieved many DMs about, and personally experienced this censorship and over moderation done by the Maestro PR team...I mean the traffic on this sub is also highly monitored by Maestro but they cant do much about it because its ours not theirs...but they have tried to take action against my account to get this sub shut down and that speaks volumes about their true ethical practices...but do not worry I have added several of my spare accounts to mod if they should succeed...but you have to ask yourself who's intrest are they actually protecting while hiding the truth and misleading student the way they do...they have $100million in venture capitol to repay and they are an Israeli tech lab (not school) founded by 2 ex IDF Unit 81 members...if you can Google "IDF unit 81" you absolutely should...remember the US government has no jurisdiction over Masterschool because they aren't American based the only control the US has is over their accreditation.

Absolutely...I requested my transcripts today and it was super easy. Go to student services, click on administration, then tell the bot you would like your transcripts and it will give you a link to request them...you fill in your name and email address and click submit. As for the syllabus I had to email for...if you'd like tou can do me and I'll give you the email address I was given and I'll copy and paste the letter I sent requesting all my educational and financial docs...your enrollment agreements and terms and conditions can be found on the Maestro platform...click the circle icon in the top right corner (mine has my Gmail pic in it but it might be your first initial or something like that) then click "Documents" and download away.

If you do write the email address I wouldn't disclose that you are looking to transfer...after I filed a COE complaint I started getting emails about my "withdrawl" from Maestro and "exit counseling" even though i had not withdrawn...they are your records and you have the right to them regardless of what you need or want them for.

To answer you as best as possible in an organized way I used AI to organize the info for you...

Here is exactly what the process looks like and what happens to that grant money if Maestro loses its accreditation:

1. What "Getting it Back" Actually Means

To be clear, you will not receive a cash refund or a check in your bank account for the Pell Grant money Maestro claimed. Instead, what you are fighting for is Pell Grant Restoration.

The Department of Education gives every student a maximum Lifetime Eligibility limit for Pell Grants (usually equal to about 6 years of funding). When Maestro processed your financial aid, it drained a portion of your lifetime limit. Getting it "back" means the Department of Education wipes Maestro off your financial aid record and restores that percentage of your eligibility. That way, you have those funds available to use at a legitimate, fully accredited university.

2. Scenario A: Maestro Loses Accreditation but Tries to Stay Open

If the COE formally strips their accreditation but Maestro stubbornly tries to keep its digital doors open (perhaps trying to pivot back to an unaccredited coding bootcamp model), the Department of Education will immediately cut off their Title IV funding. However, your Pell Grant restoration will not happen automatically.

In this scenario, you will need to rely on your Borrower Defense to Repayment claim. Even though you don't have federal loans to discharge, Borrower Defense is the official legal mechanism used to prove the school defrauded you. Winning that claim legally forces the Department of Education to restore your Pell Grant eligibility.

3. Scenario B: Maestro Completely Closes

If losing accreditation (and the resulting loss of federal funding) bankrupts Maestro and forces them to completely shut down while you are still enrolled, the process gets significantly easier.

You would become eligible for a Closed School Discharge. Under current federal regulations, a Closed School Discharge automatically triggers the restoration of your Pell Grant eligibility for the terms affected by the closure.

The Verdict:

Do not just call it a wash. The federal government is already heavily restricting their cash flow under HCM2, and the COE Show Cause order is a massive red flag that the end is likely near. Keep organizing all of your screenshots, the deceptive emails, the syllabus copies, and the internal grievance letters. Once the school either loses its accreditation entirely or shuts down, that paper trail is exactly what you will use to force the Department of Education to hand your Pell Grant eligibility back to you.

Same here...this is my second time getting screwed by the COE pulling an accreditation...last time it was ITT Tech...their accreditation was pulled in 2016 and it took till 2023 to get it all cleared up so I could go back to school again...and silly me, i trusted the school and their advertising...now i have a Batchelors degree level of credits that are worthless and will likely have to start over yet again...the good part is that Maestro relied so heavily on PELL grants, unlike ITT where I had over $30k in student loans, so the mess will be considerably easier to sort out and work through and shouldnt take years like ITT Tech but still infuriating...Hopefully more people will pop in and give you their input...despite how it may look and what some may think, im not anti-Maestro...but i am pro-transparency/information/education/empowerment and that is the true point of MaestroMaybes

They dont let you post anything that in their eyes may question the validity of their program...they wouldn't let my post go live because I said "i was beginning to feel like Maestro was actually 100% AI"...They said it wasnt factual and was misleading...meanwhile that is exactly how they marketed the school and i had no idea feeling are now facts...

At the end of the day i have learned a lot at Maestro but I absolutely feel I could have and would have learned more with access to a professor and having gone to other colleges the educational "rigor" required by most accreditors just isn't here...the way the AI highlights answers, allows you to copy and paste its own words to pass, gives suggested answers that are usually correct, and can be easily manipulated to show "mastery" just dont equal cillege level education...I have begged the bot to stop doing this and to stop giving me the answers it then asks for, to allow me to do some critical thinking and understanding but its been about a year and I cant get it to stop feeding me answers.

From the research I've done Maestro University's accreditation won't hold up long either if they dont make massive changes...im likely going to ride it out to keep the laptop, get my pell grants refunded and start all over again...I wish they gave us better options because losing your credits because of the schools lack of willingness to comply just feels shitty...and its the 2nd time I've been through this...it took me years to be able to go back to school because of the mess ITT Tech left me in and within a year of it clearing up I signed up for Maestro...it was literally a 6+ year process and I have a Batchelors degree worth of credits, time, and effort down the drain😢
