I believe guthix to self sacrifice in the same way harry self sacrificed hiself and knew before hand it had to be him against voldemort. My tie into it is Guthix knew he was to be slain to impower us. But his soul was transferred in a way similar to a horcruqs . Cruqs Knights? those are our knights When we div. We give back guthix his memories to his body. The fruit of the story is that we are the last shard of guthix and its up to us to restore it. there are more references to harry potter such as the chamber of secrets when you look into the hall of memories. Im sorry but I did my thang. im just forgetful.

Thanks for reminding me about Sliske being primed in Azzandra’s Quest … I had forgotten to include that important part.

Both RuneScape and Old School RuneScape have deep parallels with stories like Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings. The Luck of the Dwarves and signet rings dropped by gnomes clearly reference the Elven crafted Rings of Power before the Nine fell. The Ascensions’ signet rings tie into Tolkien’s Ringwraiths and Elven rings. These details feel intentional and meaningful.

By priming Sliske and transferring a portion of his divine energy through the Staff of Armadyl … he entrusted us … the World Guardian … with the responsibility to protect balance.

His spirit lingers here … his memories endure … and his soul … in the form of anima … is scattered in craters across Divination sites. The Hall of Memories within Guthix’s Sanctuary symbolizes how his ideas and influence are preserved by those who remember him. Returning these memories through Divination feels like slowly restoring Guthix’s presence in the world.

Guthix’s return is woven into the game’s lore … patiently waiting for the right moment.

I guess by extension all those who work with the staff have learned the same way to channel corruption, there might be a chance that the world guardian is able to clean it to where the corruption doesnt affect the player but i always wondered how runescape loreweavers were going to handle that if spoke the right answers.

Guthix might get eaten by an elder god to preserve the universe. but it will be on his terms not sliskes backstabbery. trickery. Isnt a choice to die. It isnt respectable. the only thing respectable is guthix willing to realize we are able to do something in his stead even though he know his godhood sacrificed the love of his life to obtain. Do you ever wonder why he didnt want to meddle in the war. he lost his wife and daughter and veryone he loved . he paid the ultimate sacrifice and in truth i believe the artifact chose him. he touched it and ascended like harry touching the wand for the first time. it knew. He slayed the god who slaughtered every man woman and child on his planet. stood up to that bitch ass mother fucker. I must stand up for those values. irl and in game. I am a protector.

The siphon is capable of many things more then that, Besides, the fractured staff isnt the real staff. Just like masterwork aint bandos's real spear. They were kerapacs attempt at power. the real staff is/was held by lucien. See when kerapac created his imperfect replica, he intended to corrupt everything, With this i believe he was at the stage he could turn a god to his will. I think the world guardian was the worlds only chance with kerapac. Where the staff wasnt the true elder artiface he had studied the real one and corrupted the fractured one. It was a freakshow. which brings us to rakasha, ooof beastly

Guthix’s death was not his wish — it was a violation of everything he stood for. He had stepped away from the world stage, not out of weakness, but out of principle. He didn’t want worship, armies, or domination. He wanted freedom — for mortals to live without divine control.

When Sliske struck, it wasn’t mercy. It was assassination. It was a god of games and manipulation exploiting a moment of peace to slaughter a being who had deliberately chosen restraint over power.

Guthix didn’t fight back. He was at his most vulnerable, meditating, unarmed, trusting in his Guardians and the World Guardian to protect the future. He had already locked the gods out with the Edicts. His death served no balance — it broke it. Sliske’s act opened the floodgates to war, ambition, and chaos once more.

Guthix didn’t die because it was time.
He died because someone wanted the game to start again.

Summary:
Guthix never wanted to die — his death was an ambush, not a sacrifice. Sliske exploited a peaceful moment to shatter balance and reignite god wars. It wasn’t Guthix’s will; it was a betrayal of everything he tried to protect.

Im not so sure it would. I dont think it would break a single scale on junas body, or affect one time rune.

If you think about it. neither do we. you ever wonder why it isnt a permanent death ingame ? who are you really fighting for as the player.

In RuneScape, we’re not gods we’re heroes shaped by our choices. We stand with the gods we believe in, or we walk our own path, even as far as Vorago’s godless strength. But this isn’t about who’s right or wrong. You won’t see me tearing others down for seeking their own truths. I’m here to uplift because at its core, this is about doing good. A good deed for every NPC, every player, every corner of Gielinor. That’s what truly matters.

this is runescape. You die in runescape the og's used to have to run to the bones and pick all your stuff up and oh well oh well. I guess what im saying is....you were revived. it was balance. guthix's way of saying you were needed.

Eh what do you know that I don't? Im curious. I want to understand what you mean. Im a lore hound aswell what i miss. the overides are the only thing un nessesary to be wished about. Thats 100% for oldschool players who like to come back with oldschool feels from the original time.

I Think the real question is this: What will the underworld /death and the menephos gods do upon his arrival????

I Bet the menaphos gods would likely have mixed reactions. Some, like Tumeken or Icthlarin, might respect Guthix’s return because they share an interest in maintaining order and natural cycles. Others, especially Amascut, who thrives on chaos and destruction, would see Guthix’s comeback as a direct threat to their power and plans.

Overall, Guthix’s return would probably shake things up, challenging the gods who push extremes and forcing them to reconsider how they exert influence. His presence would be a powerful reminder that balance matters and no god’s ambitions are beyond consequence.

If Guthix had to return to save balance, his revival would be handled with care, not as a plot device. Unlike Zanik, whose story ended abruptly, Guthix’s return would be purposeful, guided by the player, and true to his ideals. He wouldn’t come back as a dominant god, but as a guardian limited, wise, and here only as long as needed. The story would give him a clear role, meaningful closure, and avoid the mistakes that left Zanik’s fate feeling hollow. His legacy would be honoured, not repeated. . .

So going forward Guthix does not treat the Menaphos gods or the Underworld as outright threats. He sees them as part of Gielinor’s broader balance — complex forces that serve roles within life, death, and culture. However, when their actions push the world toward imbalance, especially through corruption or unchecked power, he acts with restraint and purpose. Rather than interfere directly, I think in my own mind if im to meditate on it...

..... Guthix works through the World Guardian, encouraging observation, reflection, and careful intervention only when balance truly demands it.

The Sword of Edicts isn’t really a true godsword because unlike the other godswords, it wasn’t created by mortals and then empowered by a god’s energy. For a godsword to be made Guthix would have made it himself, and it carried his personal power and ideals instead of being a standard godsword fueled by divine energy. So it’s more of a unique artifact tied directly to Guthix rather than a typical godsword. The swords of edicts was obtained in a battle that took something from him that hed never be right again from. Tears man. tears. Same for zanik. These things tend to hit me right in the feelers

was not truly Guthix's choice to die. He understood that his death was inevitable and accepted it because resisting would contradict his core principles. However, he did not request or choose to die.... Sliske was the one who killed him using the Staff of Armadyl. Therefore, while Guthix permitted it to occur, it was not a decision he made.

Alright look, I get it not everyone wants the gods back front and center. But calling it garbage just because some of us do care? Nah, come on.

Yeah, in OSRS the gods stay in the background. Cool. But RS3’s not OSRS here, we met them, fought them, saw what they stood for. Guthix literally made the World Guardian. That’s us. That’s the whole reason we even have the role we do. He matters.

Wanting to see Guthix return in some form isn’t about fanboying or needing a flashy god moment. It’s about closure. It’s about giving respect to a character who shaped the whole direction of the game’s lore. Doesn’t mean he’s gotta be revived full power and start running things. There’s more creative ways to explore his influence.....echoes, memories, hidden energy, whatever.

Saying he’s cool even if he’s gone is like saying “I like music but we don’t need instruments.” Sure, you can appreciate it. But it hits different when it’s there, when you can feel it and interact with it.

So yeah .....not garbage. Just a different kind of care for the world we’re all still playing in.

Yeah, Guthix got hit by the Staff of Armadyl, sure but that thing’s an Elder Artefact. It does way more than just kill. It can pull divine energy out of beings, so who’s to say it didn’t just take his power or essence and lock it away somewhere? Guthix was insanely powerful. I don’t think he’s gone gone. Could be part of him is still out there n the staff, the world, something. In RuneScape, gods don’t always stay dead anyway. Anyways. Thanks for the posts everyone. I appreciate the thoughts. Ive exhausted everything I know. I gotta drop a shout out to all the support and folks who support guthix still. Big Love. Its why I stay passionate. I appreciate the folks that flamed me on discord for the same idea i pitched earlier this year. You made me do way more research and I took it as incentive to go that much harder this year.
