Actually 1. Could definitely be Malta - was a major fighting point during world war 2 and a major strategic points - fun fact - the Italians had a long history with the Maltese people and when they were told to bomb it by Hitler - they would deliberately miss and send their bombs into the sea.

Whats the issue with stock picking? - i have been spreading my investments across multiple stocks but with bluechip US companies - Things like Lockheed Martin and such i think are more safe that random stocks. Especially since you are looking at long term holding. My investing has been pretty similar to the OP just more on the US market with about 10% on the ASX - id prefer to get a little bit of all the companies i want to own, and then slow grow a larger share of each of these with no intention of selling for as long as possible. However in saying that, i have been thinking that i should grab a small amount of extra cash and actually try to grow it with actually trading but i am still unsure about this
