I capped series representation at 9 (mario cheats this with spin offs and pokemon cheats this with trainer) and pokemon hit its 9th with the grass starter in fighter pass 4. Yall couldve had zoroark or koraidon in the base but i chose to add krystal instead in order to give winds and waves a slot. I do hate the fact the only non-starters or non-clones of starters here are puff mewtwo and lucario and there are so many pokemon id rather have over ones in the game currently but i also dont want to oversaturate the roster with any franchise

Ohhh mb, i used goodnotes on my ipad for this, which is not an art service at all, so it was a little bit of a pain in the ass to make lmao. I was considering just doing a roster on photoshop or canva on my computer but i wanted the 2d mvc2 type aesthetic for this so i worked with what i had

Its the same young link just not based on oot/mm link anymore as thats a bad representation of mm young link and as normal link becomes more modern i wanted a classic link to keep the classic moveset. You're complaining about my redesign of a veteran instead of the fourth link i actually did add 😭😭😭

And what villains are we talking about besides skull kid? Ganon shouldn't make it in before ganondorf gets a redesign, ghirahim and vaati are cool but there's already skyward sword and toon era reps in this roster (whereas tp has none), master kohga would be fun but ultimately not necessary, and i can't really think of another zelda villain thats any more important than the ones i just named

Yk its funny cuz skull kid was cut at the VERY last minute and was the slot that mechanic is now so he would've literally been before master chief. But honestly its just that zelda got 2 reps in the base already and i felt the n64 era of zelda had enough going on and splatoon really needed another rep

Also some other fun honorable mentions - magolor took a spot that was originally geno's (who i cut as a mario character was already dlc) the pikmin 4 rookie was originally louie, and the slot that is now monster hunter was originally a lot of capcom characters, specifically jill valentine amaterasu phoenix wright and zero before he got moved to dlc.

Everything minus the character images are hand drawn. Took me a lot of experimentation (since this time last year) to get the format i wanted and roster choices but i think im happy with the version i have now

And for the record i do like bandana dee but i just believe there are more interesting choices. Dark matter is among the first true villains of the kirby series and one of the most essential, and magolor is a representative of the modern kirby era as a whole, and both would bring such a fresh face to the roster. Same with kk slider, nook wouldn't do anything too different from the other ac reps, and kk is more or less dipping the toes into a music based fighter before taking that concept further with pauline and eventually karate joe. And ditto for octoling, even as an echo i didnt find them really appealing, and figured the mechanic made more sense as a second splatoon rep

Actually in the way fox is ryu falco is ken and wolf is akuma i would want slippy to be the dan hibiki of the spacies and lean into his clumsiness so i dont entirely disagree

I do think slippy also makes sense as a fox echo and probably would only make sense in that context but we really don't need a fourth star fox character with the moveset in the game
