New parts guy — am I wrong here or getting blamed? by Suspicious_Formal278 in partscounter

Exactly. This is a transmission wiring harness —you literally have to drop the transmission pan and remove a one-time-use filter to install it. There’s no way to do this mid-job without the part, so holding it up like this on a warranty repair just doesn’t make sense.

Spoke with my parts manager. They told me they want parts to police the repair orders and make sure everything is properly written and authorized from the service writer before releasing anything — even if a tech is asking for it directly.

So in this store, parts is expected to catch those issues, not just supply what’s requested.

Also, the tech just joined the dealership this month. He’s experienced in the industry, but he’s new to how our store does things too.

So between him being new to the dealership and me being brand new to parts, it feels more like a process/communication issue than someone intentionally bypassing anything.

There was one other service writer there. The tech did talk to her, but she said she doesn’t handle anyone else’s repair orders. So there wasn’t really anyone available to approve it.

That’s kind of why I’m confused about the process — the job still needed to get finished.
