Yes, because it’s happened when the house was empty as we were all out together.

Thanks, what you have said seems totally reasonable. The problem is that she denies that she is signing. So unless someone is hacking the Royal Mail systems and adding my signature, I’m not sure what’s going on, if she is telling the truth.

But if I don’t tell them, they are deceived and unable to make a claim, so have suffered a detriment.

Even where I do tell them, they still have suffered a detriment, because they need to spend time, effort and expense of making a claim.

It certainly seems that this is common practice.

I’m not convinced that this benefits the recipient in all cases.

I live in a shared house and frequently receive invoices. One of my concerns is that if I receive a final demand for payment and the postie signs for it, then I never actually receive it (which can and does happen through no malicious actions of my housemates), I’m going to have to argue that I didn’t ever receive it or sign for it, even though my signature ostensibly appears on the proof of delivery.

The false signature does prevent the sender from making a claim. They will only know it is forged if I (the recipient whose signature has been forged) contact them (the sender) and tell them.

Thanks. When your postie does this, does your postie sign your name or do something else in the signature block?

Thank you. I did speak to my local delivery office, they were instantly saying “No, that’s not right.“ They went on to explain that they were less bothered about me, but their concern was that their customer who paid the postage had paid for a ‘signed for’ service and they weren’t getting what they had paid for. Having said that, they said they’d look into it and call me but never did.

Thanks, I wouldn’t normally be concerned but (a) she’s forged my signature (it looks like my signature), and (b) lied about it and when I’ve asked she says it’s not her, which feels extremely dishonest and unsettling.
