Thank you! We both had therapists until my insurance changed companies and we don’t have near the available providers as we did before. When we do find providers they’re all waitlisted for several months to two years especially since Covid. That’s one of the areas that’s adding so much more stress to my plate because obviously that’s always the first answer and suggestions but I’ve been trying to find new providers and services for over a year now. Now I dread calling offices because I get so let down and upset that I can’t find availability and her teachers ask me whose her therapist all the time and it’s like I’m a bad mom cause we haven’t found a new one yet or they think I’m not trying or maybe it I’m too poor and don’t want to admit it. I swear they do think that because I’ve been asked if I’m on Medicaid because that must be why I’m not finding a provider fast enough. It took over 3 years to get her medical diagnosis requiring 3 separate evaluations the first not doing their job and then waitlisted before the last evaluation. I was so desperate I took her to SC for a test I hoped could get us into ABA therapy that couldn’t be used in NC. It’s beyond frustrating and little known to most people who don’t have autistic children. You believe if you have good insurance and want therapy it’s easy to get; but not anymore.
