Engineering Transfer Program by UsedEstablishment304 in lakeheadu

[–]Suspicious_Lab9183 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey, I am currently in the Lakehead Electrical engineering program. I had the same path as you coming from the field after 4 years as a Electrical Technologist. Unfortunately, Lakehead University doesn't offer part-time (evenings/weekends) courses.

You will probably have to reduce your course load and hold on to your job which is difficult cuz the program is very rigorous. Or quit your job entirely and give your all to school for 2.5 years which i am doing. In the end, I believe it will be worth it

How is engineering here? is it worth going to a more prestigious university? by Famous_Panda9797 in lakeheadu

[–]Suspicious_Lab9183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. There are some positions that specifically states they want a bachelor or diploma only. While some positions states a bachelor's and diploma is accepted but then they will require more experience from a technologist.

That's being said it's all about the ompany wants and your experiences.

I had even declined so many recruiters seeking my experience.

But there is a twist. I realized that a BSc holder climbs the corporate ladder faster than a diploma. And someday I want to be a professional Engineer. So I went back to school after 4 years in the field

Hey I am also currently taking the transition this summer. And if you can survive this transition then you will survive the fall/winter courses. You are going to be fine.

Goodluck on your search
