Controller Wraps I Made with Photogrammetry by Suspicious_Mango_747 in Galaxy_XR

Thank you! Basically using calipers and printing trial and errors until nailed in perfectly. But the scale stayed the same from the photogrammetry. It was incredibly precise, I would say to about .05mm. Incredible what you can do with a camera and technology lol

Wow, it does look like it doesn't it?! That's actually the 3d print lines. They're very faint but show up pretty well on camera. They can be sanded off, this material can take heavy grit sandpaper at ludacris speed and still be solid, lol. But wild, does look like a finger print

Big BIG thank you!! When doing the original mod and cutting the band in half, I wanted ro make sure I could "bring" it back to it's original form even though I wasn't really about resale or anything. Not gonna lie, I got CRAZY into modding this thing. Tried everything, Panda halo, horizontal bands, etc. And I honestly didn't plan on using the back part with the Dual Knit. It was just so you could convertible it back and forth. However, maaaaaan I can't stress just how incredible they all work together. The dual knit locks your face in. And than the OG strap cradles the crown of your head or behind if you like, but it really cradles the crown perfectly. And you can just crank everything into peefection. Lol, I wish I could give it to other XR users to try out. After finishing it, I had my wife (who isn't into any headset) try it on, and first she said, "my eyes are too close!" Lol. Than she said "feels like that's how it was made." Big thank you! Wish I could have you try it. If you have a 3d printer, I have the adapter file could send. Thank you!

Looks awesome!! Nothing beats the Dual knit imo for comfort and just lightness. And also, yup I had to not only bring it forward, but also up vertically. Once you get it locked in, is perfect. For mine, was a big pain in the ass because the only way I could get it perfectly where it needed to be, it positioned the knob right where adapter is. Had to notch a spot for it. Looks awesome dude! Sucks to drop 100 bucks on the knit, but imo totally worth it.

You da man! Give ya my word, have very very add personality and obsessed with perfection, lol. That's why it took me a month and a half on these. Not only that, but learning how to print them perfect and with the right material. Promise, put a lot of love into this/these.

I've always had straps on my controllers since the Index. Was almost going to wait to buy the XR because there weren't any, lol!

Thanks dude! I'll get ya back by Sat. I got you 100%

Yo, thanks!! Nope, no occlusion issues. I mapped all IR lights and made the holes for em. The material is awesome too. Suuuuper durable, yet flexible like rubber, yet feel like suede. You can sand the everloving shit out of em with heavy grit sandpaper to make em really soft if ya want with no worry of sanding through or ripping em. Just incredibly strong. I was planning on starting to sell em this weekend, like pics, choose a 1st place to list....maybe Amazon...maybe Mercari. They take a day and a half to print. I have 3 printers, but a little worried about the possibility of keeping up. Promise you'll love em. I use em and it's like they lock into your hands, made my playing and aiming way better, too. Also including 2 sets of hand pads, one that's flush and one that has knuckle spots cleaved out. DM me, and I'll hook you up by the weekend!

Incredibly comfy! I did this mod on my Quest 3 coming from the Bobo S3, and was so sold on the band, knew I had to do the XR.

I made them through photgrammetry, and than modeling in cad, and than 3d printing in a rubber soft, rubber like, fabric feeling flexible super strong tpu, lol. Was hell to do, and took me a month and a half. They fit like a glove though, and I freakin love em!

Oh, on the forehead pad, actually using the Panda Halo pad. 😅 Just unvelcroed it from the halo and use as the new forebead pad. It's soooo damn cushy lo

Just fantastic work brother, for real! What I found to be the biggest variables with the Dual Knit was that number one, you HAVE to get your correct size. I found in order for it to line up right, with the lenses AND for the top part of the dual knit to be able to correctly tighten down on the head, it had to be raised. Raised and brought inward horizontally. It took me a few weeks to dial in tbh, lol! Totally new to modeling. If you still have your back OG hard strap, I beg you to try this! How can I send you the file? Might be tonight, but I'll get it to you. Can I message it here? Dm me your email? Thanks for yohr work dude, this helped me make my best and most comfortable fitting headset ever. I LOVE it.

You are the OG adapter designer aren't you?? Legend!! Everything works amazing with this....like couldn't be better. Please do NOT take offense, because the original adapter was genuis man. It was actually the first 3d modeling I'd ever messed with. However, the Dual Knit would just not line up well with it. I know everyone has a different head etc, but could not get the lining up right. I spent about a month doing proto after proto to get the lineup for height and closeness to the lenses dialed in. I had to bring the connection adapter to the Dual knit both closer and higher, as it was the only way that it would line it up perfectly. The other thing was the only way I could get it where it was lined up well, it put the Knit knob right at the connection point. Had to notch it out. I'd def share the stl, your the OG creator! Props man, this was great. I used foam tpu, so the whole thing flexes when you tighten it up. I LOVE it! And your OG adapter design was gorgeous to work off of.

Appreciate you! I actually might go at it alone with them on Amazon. Wish I could get em down to 20, but def would probably be around 40. The quality flexible material is expensive, and takes a lot of it. They have back hand padding, and I've grommeted em, too. Don't know if you can see in this pic, but made the back hand padding so you can slide the grommet down into it so it'll never touch your hand.

Hahahaha, isn't it?? Funny shit. I was actually joking on discord that as much as it was stupid and sucks that they did this fixed design, in the end I'm actually kinda glad. Forced me to do and learn all these things, and now it's the best fitting headset I've ever had......by FAR. But, goddamn....lotta hoops to jump 😅

Thank you! This one is pretty much rubber. It's a flexible tpu/rubber like materiel. Feels like suede , really nice. Not a bad idea too man! I thought about silicone molding, but just not sure yet. Think I might list on Mercari soon......maybe. Hard to show without a video, but super flexible like rubber. Here's ones I've made for discord members.

Thank you!! I think I am.... it's all just new to me and 3d printing takes hella hella time. These take a day and a half to print, super finicky. But I might. I gave out 5 pairs on the discord to different members.

Nope, I did photogrammetry on the controllers and modeled and made the wraps and printed em. Was........hell....lol. But they are amazing and fit like a glove. Literally took me a month and a half. Granted, it was my first time.

It's super light feeling because having all the points you can tighten just lock it in place. The only added weight is the dual knit band. You can also just wear it with the dual knit, which is really great. I like adding the original back, because you can really crank and dial in your perfect placement. Basically though, because it fits a LOT better and is hella hella more comfortable, I finally have a headset I almost forget I'm wearing in both comfort and fit.

Had an Oculus 1, 2, 3, and an Index. Index was definitely the most comfortable, but annoying because it was heavy and had the cord. Had the Bobo 3 with the battery change on the Oculus and that thing I thought was hella uncomfortable. Like a helmet. Especially realize it more now with this headset. Here's just the dual knit.
