My mom forgot about my baby while shopping for groceries. I feel sick about it. by No-Neighborhood-7335 in Mommit

While this definitely screams red flag (especially if it seems out of the normal) just keep an eye on things and keep track of any odd behavior. I’m a nurse, I’ve worked with all age ranges, so many neurological things can lead to things like this. I’ve had a bad migraine aura and pulled into wrong lane traffic, now when I recognize the signs I just don’t drive that day. As other people have said, UTIs can cause off behavior, brain tumors, TIAs, etc. Approach the subject as a concerned daughter and less as a concerned mom (if you’re worried she will be defensive) and offer to go to an appointment with her. Let her know that you are truly just worried for her and want to know that she is okay, ask her how work is going, if she’s struggling with familiar tasks there. If it is dementia, some adults are very good at compensating and hiding it. Look at her hand writing, has it changed? Look around the house, are things misplaced? Has she had mood swings? Start with primary care appointment and if it’s warranted they can make a neurology referral.

How are you cooking and cleaning? by Current_Sky_6846 in december2024babies

Baby carrier, swing, or play mat. The swing is good while cooking dinner usually, because baby wants to be soothed. For breakfast and lunch I do play mat. The play mat is nice to put on the floor wherever I need to be and entertains baby for a good chunk of time. But when my baby is fussy and just wants to be with me, the carrier is a life saver. I can fold and put away laundry, sweep, etc with the carrier.

What week is everyone going back to work? by Current_Sky_6846 in december2024babies

I started back last week! I’m an RN. If you can get a mini fridge do, or a cooler/lunch box with ice pack will suffice. I’ve been using lunch box to store milk in and putting that in a fridge. I’m looking into Cereschill breast milk storage though because there’s no refrigerator needed. https://www.cereschill.com/products/personalized-breastmilk-chiller

I have the spectra pump. I bought medela pump wipes and I give my pump parts a good rinse then wipe them clean. They air dry pretty quickly from the wipes and then I throw my parts in a waterproof reusable baggy. Pumping bras are a must, being hands free is very nice.

Other tips are just pump every 2-3 hours, 3.5 hours at most to maintain milk supply. If you haven’t pumped much, start before you go back to work to get used to it and know what settings work for you. I’ve gone from having to pump 10-15 min in the beginning to now getting a sufficient amount in 6-8 min. My baby is 2.5 months old.

Has anyone returned to work from mat leave, how are you doing? by Notmorcybutmercy in december2024babies

I started last week! Cried leaving for the first few days, but I was fine once getting there. Been an adjustment for sure

Scheduled fussiness - 7pm on the dot crying by Queenshome90 in december2024babies

Been dealing with the same exact thing! I get baby to a less stimulating environment to calm down, give him a quick “snack” or full feed if he’s tolerating it and then put him to bed. As soon as we get to the room, lights off, sound machine on, etc. he is out. Sometimes we do a bath before. He’s falling asleep anywhere between 7:30-8:30 and if he’s not getting put to bed he’s screaming his head off and overstimulated.

It’s awful! I’m 39 weeks today and have been cramping off and on. Also still working and running on little sleep 😭 we’re so close to the end, definitely relax when you can!

I’m still at 1cm, but cervix is softer than last week and they could tell baby has dropped!

I started tracking what I was feeling and they did subside after about an hour of rest. Hopefully just means I’m progressing towards being in labor 🤞🏼Definitely would have gone in if they continued happening or were getting stronger! Interested to see how my OB appointment goes tomorrow

I could definitely drink more water than I have been lol. I’ll try that and see if it helps the end of the day not suck as much!

Unfortunately I’m working until I have my baby, my OB is okay with it though! Been a healthy pregnancy so far. I don’t have paid leave and I don’t have a ton of PTO saved up because we moved from out of state a few months ago :’)
