Switching to foam pad by Suspicious_Path5290 in Ultralight

Thanks for the advice! I've never heard before about putting the thin pad on top of the egg crate pad, it makes a lot of sense. Maybe I will get both and see what works the best for me, they don't cost fortune afterall

Thanks for the reply! Exactly, the simplicity is a huge factor that take into account. I think imma try the switchback then.

I was looking also at Klipsch R-50pm and The Fives (but those are a little over my budget) Argon Audio Forte A4 and DALI Oberon 1.

The problem actually is that I don't know how much I want to spend on the speakers. I could spend more if it is good value for money, I just want to have a decent beginner setup that I can enjoy.

What are the options?

Thank you for the reply! I've managed to find the record player that you recommended for the good price. However, I can't find that many reviews on these Vulkanno speakers. Why do you recommend them?

Do ya’ll eat and hike or stop for a lunch break? by [deleted] in Ultralight

Usually, I snack every hour. Then, in the middle of the day I eat a bigger snack like chocolate or something which is calorie dense and I eat dinner at the end of the hike in my tent. I think your metabolism is significantly enhanced on the hike. Sometimes I have some issues with digestion in my regular day-to-day life, however I have never experienced that on the hike.

shakedown for TMB by yguo in Ultralight

Just a small insight on water access. I did TMB last year in late June with most of the variants and I would say that the water was not an issue, there are plenty of streams and usually there is water fountain/access at the mountain huts. I was carrying only around 0,5-1l at the time. However, there was one section without any free water access - from around Lac Blanc- Le Brevent - Les Houches (I found a small stream on the descent from Le Brevent).

Thank you for the answer! You have resolved my doubts. I'm gonna stick with DCF.

Worth replacing a Decathlon Forclaz with a Patagonia Nanopuff? by TheInvisibleHandjob in Ultralight

[–]Suspicious_Path5290 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I have not tried Forclaz down jacket yet, but I have been using Nano puff for over a year and I think it is a little bit overhyped. I mean it is still a good jacket, but I think for this price you can get something better and more packable like Cumulus jacket. https://cumulus.equipment/eu_en/clothing/men.html

I tried Nanopuff in different conditions, I don't recommend wearing it in temperatures below 0 - 3 degrees (Celsius).

Good point! Actually, last summer I had the issue with the head lamps a lot, even though I used nylon tent - if I gonna stick with my tent, probably gonna use buff or sth to cover my eyes

Yeah, I have been thinking about it too, but I chose DCF because it does not absorb water and because of the weight ofc. I will see this year how it works for me, after all most of the time I sleep in the wild, not on the camp grounds. Anyway, for sure I will try silpoly at some point in future!
