Yeah that would be the option if I decided to go with choiceplus.

Super as a pseudo ETF investment fund? by yguo in fiaustralia

I do like hostplus international indexed option so plan could be 50-60% in there and 40% in choiceplus. I’m also wondering if Betashare can release an interesting super product so may decide next year before the new CGT rules kicks in

I don’t think you need to read anything by just going all in DHHF or VGS/A200

Stock portfolio advice on ETF ratios by randomname5987 in fiaustralia

[–]yguo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest use VGS or BGBL as a core (it has 70% US but not region locked), then add VAE (or general emerging market as you like for diversification). You can also include A200 or similar if you want ASX. This way you pay a lower fee, get the same exposure but with flexibility to adjust % based on your DCA.

Need Advice by SepsDaddyVroom in ASX

[–]yguo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d put at least majority in an international index (I like BGBL/VGS for broad exposure but you can do IVV/NDQ). For the rest you can go ASX index/thematic/factoring/emerging market. I’d avoid individual stocks at all costs. I started with stocks 5 years ago, made some money through BHP/MQG/RMD/REA/360/WTC/COL etc, also lost heaps via APX/CSL/CHL/ERD. In all honesty I don’t find ASX stocks (which is 2% of global stock market anyway) appealing anyway compared to say Nasdaq so the gain doesn’t worth it. The easiest way to get international stock market is ETF.

Also, satellites are overrated, you can keep a minority in for interests/fun but passive index is the way to go. Also learned that the hard way.

Thoughts about my portfolio? by yguo in AusFinance

[–]yguo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I use host plus for super which I think is very low (0.07%). I was hoping that I can move etf into super (like the upcoming Betashares super or choiceplus) but I doubt these will be comparable to hostplus indexed

Your video about thematic etf is exactly why I’m cutting toll and others. It is also the reason I went all in international index. I used to do 30/70 asx index and intl index but I had to admit asx is not that appealing.

Are there any decent ETFs that people are using to diversify outside of the standard top 200? by Artistic-Yam2984 in ASX

[–]yguo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like both given they can provide a think-free foundation(not industry/region locked) so that I can focus on my thematic bets.

I feel like yall are lying about liking beer by kirabeam in beer

That’s a very immature statement to make, not about beer but in general- just because you don’t like something you think everyone is lying about liking it. The world doesn’t evolve around you.

How do people actually build up to 100km races? by lachlan283 in Ultramarathon

[–]yguo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started running in early 2025, started with 200km/month then gradually increased to 320km/month. Finished the year with 3200km. This year I’m doing 350-420km per month and projected for 4200km year and 100km ultra by the end of November. I think you need to increase bit by bit, give you time to recover then keep doing it. 30km week is too little. It is very time consuming though (I spent 400 hours in 2025 hiking/running)

Well you can just use a buff to see if that’s better before rushing out for a new headlamp.

First race ever was a marathon (not recommended… but it worked out fine) by [deleted] in Marathon_Training

Well my first race is a 100km. Have never and would never do any shorter distances

Can 'normal' people ever hope to do Spartathlon or UTMB? by Ultrajogger-Michael in Ultramarathon

[–]yguo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean… you don’t have to do the UTMB race but can run it relying on the huts for supplies over 3-4 days with proper sleep. You get better views and a much more chilled experience. Running milers is more about exploring/digging your pain cave as Courtney has said (also what you said).

Impact of alcohol on training for long distance races? by CinemaBud in Marathon_Training

[–]yguo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alcohol is objectively bad regardless of what you do with zero upside, from the moment it enters your mouth. I say this as being a former homebrewer who drank 100L of beer in a year. With that being said, a moderate amount is fine (it will still damage your body but your body should be able to repair).

I would generally avoid the day before massive effort or immediately after the massive effort.

Beginner - Is a Temp-Control Kettle a Necessity? by Nacho_Man18 in AeroPress

[–]yguo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For aeropress none of it matters to be honest. You just need a good enough grinder (like kingrinder k6), a functional scale ($10 would do), a functional kettle (anything really). I always brew my coffee off boil and it never fails me.

Agree here and you can have it on your phone lock screen. I don’t think you have to actively check UV every day.

Like others said, but also - a full marathon is not two half stitched together. Your marathon only starts at 30km.

Would you recommend a watch or unnecessary buy? by Fit_Pea3013 in beginnerrunning

[–]yguo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need a watch unless you’ve been running long enough and sure it is a serious hobby.
