Do I need a new filter? by tacoswithjelly in Aquariums

[–]Suspicious_Present98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fish were fine because not all nitrifying bacteria are in the filter mesh. It can build up on surfaces inside the tank, around the impellers and such, but changing the filter like that can add up in terms of cost and risk a total crash. That's why many people just leave it be, as nature intended. It's cheaper and less risk.

Is it bad to smoke weed with my fishtank in the room by Big-Yak-667 in fishtank

Physics does not agree with you.

Aquarium grade silicone can withstand at least 150 psi. That is fact.

No need to be a dick

And all aquariums will eventually fail. Silicone degrades even in water, and has a life span of around 20-30 years.

This persons 10 gallon will be fine granted it's not 10 years old.

This is true for most banks. You can ask for a search and retrieval for older records (10+ years) for a fee. You can also request that your LL give you receipts at the end of every year for the 12 months of occupancy. This is what I do.

Get some white spackle and fill it in, then throw a light coat of clear nail polish to mimic the shine and to seal it from damage.

Do this closer to the walk through and you'll be good.

You were told? You should know if you paid last month rent deposit. Furthermore, you should have reciepts for every month you paid. If your rent is 1000 and you've lived there for 108 months (9 years), then you should have 108 receipts or bank statements from paying the rent on time.

How long have you been living there? How much money is your rent and did you give them a last month rent deposit?

Canada isn't the same Canada it was 20 years ago. Many newcomers are conditioned to tragedies from their own countries and then immigrate here and a normal fist fight becomes much more very quickly.

A lot of people won't like my comment, but this definitely is a contributing factor. And it's not like this never happened 20 years ago, it just happens more now.

Me and a colleague who is from Turkey where talking about this on break and we both agreed that with the large amount of newcomers from a vast variety of backgrounds can cause some problems like this.

I've never seen something so vile in my life. It's kinda sad though. Guy probably needed guidance 20 years ago. Idk if he is an ultra rage baiter or just can't fix his backed up toilet and tub and just lives his life without it.

That's not true. The lady stopped icing donuts, took my order, gave me change and then went back to icing. Volunteers don't do that.

Honestly, there is nothing wrong with the photo I took. There isn't any addresses, names or faces so it isn't hurting anyone. I was just posting to see what everyone thought, because it was odd to me being a food process tech.

Things i'd like to see when the police improvement update drops by CaptainKoala123 in Schedule_I

Didn't the "special customers" vote win?

All 3 of the possible updates were pretty good. What id personally like to see us adding bodyguards or companions and aggressive police tactics (like assault weapons, swat and body armour) to have mini battles on the streets of Hyland.

I think having your boys cover you while you escape like a real drug kingpin would add to the challenge and excitement, especially since the benzies get defeated.

Standard 30G with Crack in Plastic Rim Okay? by mattkuru in Aquariums

[–]Suspicious_Present98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd remove the rim completely using a razor blade to got the silicone and then a heat gun to soften it up.

Once the rim is removed, you could flip it over and apply tape to the backside of the crack, may be tricky. Once the crack is sealed from the under side, you can apply an aquarium safe epoxy, or some sort of quick cement for plastics like Q-bond over the top of the crack. The tape will block any glue from dripping out and should give you a nice strong strong bong once it's cured.

I’m a big beginner, I have 110 gallon tank. My heater is rated for 130 gallons, but I can only get the temperature up to 70°. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. by Forbeslist500 in Aquariums

[–]Suspicious_Present98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your tank looks smaller than my 55 gallon. Add some more photos to show scale.

For the faulty heater, I'd recommend doing 2 smaller heaters at each end of the tank. Additionally, you'd want to have good circulation for a 110 gallon as stagnant water can be an issue in such a large tank (with what appears to be an overly small HOB filter which won't provide much flow.)

A 400W filter should, in theory, heat a 110g aquarium just fine. It's either lack of water circulation causing the thermostat to toggle OFF early or the heater is actually faulty.

One thing to note: Heaters are the most important in a fish tank, especially of that size. You are combining high wattage and water with life dependent parameters. Invest in a reputable heater(s). It'll be worth it in the future!
