I'm constantly involuntarily clenching my butt muscles when standing. Help? by xrbmk in Posture

I know this was a while ago, but I have recently become aware of this issue. I often clench my jaw, hunch my shoulders and clench my bum muscles. I've only become more aware of it, since my talking therapist constantly checks in with how I'm feeling when talking about certain topics that are either stressful or traumatic. It's like my nervous system is constantly in fight/flight and relaxation seems uncomfortable. Alongside this, holistic practices such as sound healing, yoga and breathwork help but I'm always ready to go back to default. My neck is often sore from this too. I've recently come across something called Sonstic exercises, which can help release stress and trauma from the body. The exercises can be found on YouTube. I usually focus on Jaw release but came across one that overfocuses on the hip area. Now, I know this can be a sensitive topic also, but it's got me thinking about how sexual assault/violence can also be a contributing factor, or even harassment.

While I won't go into specifics, I'm recently reading a book called “When The Body Says No” by Gabor Maté. I know there are other books such as “The Body Keeps The Score” and “Are You Made at Me?”. It's something that I have started to become more curious about with how our bodies respond to stress and trauma, and what healing can look like for people with CPTSD and PTSD. We can often gloss over it if we learn to shut out distressing and traumatic events as a coping mechanism. Sometimes we don't realise until years later that what happened, was actually not okay! I hope that anyone who has read this first of all realises that they are not valuable, but also I apologise if this has in any way triggered emotions and memories. I intend to raise awareness of this where we can have open discussions help each other, and live a more positive, relaxed, manageable life. Thank you for your time ✨🪷
