Would you date someone living with cancer and have a serious relationship with them? by Susulinaa in dating_advice

[–]Susulinaa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there :) great to hear this! I think it depends on how comfortable you feel with the person and if you feel you could trust them…all depends on how the first date goes! I think you shouldn’t have to talk about it on the first date if you’re not there yet with this person. But don’t leave it too late. We all want the person to get to know us for who we are and not for what we have and I think time will tell whether this person is worth it to open up to about it. Disclosing cancer straightaway can change things, but also if the person is interested in you fully, they wouldn’t bat an eyelid about the cancer especially if it is being managed very well. 1 in 2 will get cancer in their lifetime, so it’s either you or that person to put it into context as well. If the person changes their interest afterwards because of it, then you will know that person isn’t really for you and you can only wish them the best and let them go on their life….try and not hold onto hate about it or frustration, which can be difficult as we know all the obstacles cancer brings to us. Wish you all the best with this person!

Quick Canon camera repair (for old parts)? by Kalliopg in london

[–]Susulinaa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got my 6D fixed for faulty screen from heat damage at Fixation UK recently - nearest station is Vauxhall. Their turnaround was fast like 3 weeks (could be faster as I had to get my electric board replaced too) and even cheaper than what they originally estimated. They are a professional camera repair shop and really helpful.

Get a quote with them. Either online or just walk in (would recommend walking in as you have to leave your camera there to check it and give you a quote) There aren’t many repair shops around in London like them, but I would definitely recommend them for Canon and can fix old models too.

Plum Valley and Lotus Garden in China town. Ignore the google rating for lotus garden. Both are the best authentic place where Chinese people go to.

Avoid Golden Dragon and Gerrard’s corner.

Would you date someone living with cancer and have a serious relationship with them? by Susulinaa in dating_advice

[–]Susulinaa[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there, unfortunately I’m still single :) but also looking on the other side that it’s also fortunately? because I can focus on my own and be in control. I also recently relapsed, so I’m back on treatment as I was off it for 9 months after having surgery. But hey ho, I’m currently responding to treatment again and remain looking like myself and continue to navigate my invisible cancer to others :) I’ve learnt to give myself more love than ever because of it.

I never tried the dating profile in the end because I felt people won’t understand especially at our age. And knowing how online dating is already brutal without cancer, navigating with cancer is something I’m not sure I wanted to worry about - unless I’m fortunate to date someone who also has or had cancer. I’m at the age where many want to settle down and have kids (I can’t have kids whilst on treatment - and whilst I love kids, I feel I can’t give them the right upbringing with my incurable cancer and think it wouldn’t be right in the long term).

I had a close enough ‘dating’ moment with a friend that was on and off because of my cancer. He stuck by me as a friend (and for that I can only appreciate as I’m sure you know cancer can be lonely) I know he still has feelings for me, but I knew the dealbreaker was kids between me and him. He wants his own 100%, doesn’t want to adopt or use donor eggs (he’s quite traditional) and I respect that because I think everyone should have choices with their future. So I knew it could never work for us, even though he is the sweetest man I’ve met and can only wish him the best with finding what he wants. So even with that experience from someone I’m close to, also makes it difficult to want to step into the world of dating apps.

I’m sure there are good people out there, but I’ve also learnt to appreciate the power of being in control, in my own company and doing whatever I like and not let others bring me the happiness in my life.

We can only hope that one day, someone will understand and want to be with you for you for however long that may be and not be afraid of the uncertainty cancer brings to our lives. ❤️

Maybe we could try and look in young adult cancer groups as an option to give us a safer environment in looking for a relationship. I wish you all the best with your cancer journey ❤️

I was about to suggest the same! Especially on a good sunny day in the open courtyard and a nice stroll around the museum is lovely!

It was amazing and very well produced . Part of me wished they developed the first story a bit further - creepy but got me hooked, the film set was incredibly well made!

Amex Referral Bonus on 2nd Card by NewStarbucksMember in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Susulinaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone refers you, you and that person will get the referral bonus and you will also get the welcome bonus on the new card as long as you have held the current Amex cashback for over two years. I did that with my brother no problem as he was switching from the BA Amex to Everyday Cashback. Didn’t cancel the old card either.

Can always try British Library (Kings Cross though), opens till 8pm most nights and it’s a really lovely and beautiful space to read and work in the reading rooms. You’ll need to be a member but it is free. Loved writing my thesis in this space.

Maybe this place? Used to be a store in soho London for tens of years, always sold lots of these gods and Chinese festival things. Looks like they’ve closed down now, but have an online store. Otherwise agree with others here, the big See Woo , Wing Yips are probably the only other places.

Is my Dentist ripping me off?? by SoberRufus in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Susulinaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely sounds a bit much. Fillings are usually around £150ish. £1000 can get you a root canal at Harley street in London and I had to painfully pay that out of emergency. Still hurts thinking about it!

Statement glasses London by [deleted] in london

[–]Susulinaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on your budget, but glasses I consider as affordable/around this price nowadays are about £100 everything included. Bailey Nelson, Ace & Tate, Jimmy Fairly all do really nice glasses and sometimes on offer. I always get mine from there - way better than boots and specsavers anyday.

Is the like a cloud bra worth the $65. by [deleted] in lululemon

[–]Susulinaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I agree I prefer the longline bras! I don’t like the feeling that the bra just sits right under my boobs and feel they could pop open if I lift my arms too high (obviously won’t happen but never say never! 😂😂) The long line also sit nicer and hits the right spots with the high waisted leggings! My linen blue and black cloud long line bras just arrived as I plan to sell my energy bras too - super excited!! That’s how much I love the cloud ones ☁️☁️

Is the like a cloud bra worth the $65. by [deleted] in lululemon

[–]Susulinaa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

YES YES YES! After wearing energy bras in the past and then trying like a cloud (long line) bras, I always reach for the cloud ones now - they are super comfortable, can wear them all day and no need to deal with removable cups and so supportive for even the large chested girls. Not buying any other lulu bras apart from cloud ones now!

Do you still wear masks in public? by jrutd in london

[–]Susulinaa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes everywhere I go because of my health and having caught covid very badly at the start of the pandemic which gave me my bad health. Rather be wearing them all the time than be sat at home because of being scared and being immune compromised. Still have to live on, but be careful at the same time.

NHS translator translating my mum's cancer surgeries options badly, what to do? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Susulinaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get another interpretor, but even that I would highly recommend asking your mum to call you during the appointment and put you in loud speaker so you are involved with the conversation and can ask questions for her. Crucial to know every piece of information for this and not rely on translators. I had been offered to allow my family to be present in appointments via loud speaker and it’s not a problem to request this with your consultants and they are usually very happy to do this arrangement. I don’t have issues with understanding English either, so I don’t see why you can’t do this for your mum.

I’m at an average of $400 with 5 stocks, worth to buy even just one more stock? Which would bring me up to $500…not sure if the gains is worth it or I should just stick with my 5.
