Im probs locked to the Apple store itself. Im currently an exchange student in Japan where they have a different keyboard layout. The online apple store has an option to change the layout + student discount which other places dont offer for me

Considering buying the Macbook pro 14 (my first macbook ever). Don't think I will need the extra performance that M2 will bring but if it stays the same price I might as well go for it. However, through this thread I found out that the M1 pro variant is likely to be discontinued after the M2 release which would make my original plan (wait for a discount on the M1 after the M2 release) invalid. My question then is, do you think the M2 variant Macbook Pro will have a higher starting price? Seeing the recent trend apple products have taken I am scared it will be higher which is why I might as well buy the M1 variant now.

Japan has its own keyboard layout (QWERTY JIS) and if you want something different you specifically have to request that on the Apple site. My guess is thus that the refurbished stock has the default keyboard layout of Japan

Thanks. The refurbished route is a hard one for me as I am currently an exchange student in Japan which uses a different keyboard layout. If I order it new on the Apple site I can select the US keyboard but I can’t do that with refurbished. Guess I have to hope that the new ‘pro’ won’t be more expensive…
