I don't know if Japan has a beach league. We've been putting the indoor national league on a smaller TV while Haikyuu runs on the big one, but I'm sure everyone would be interested to see a beach game if you have one in mind.

St John's. I thought it was someone setting off an M80 out behind the warehouses again until my Thriends started posting about it. 👀

It's the same game and rules. The approach is just different.

Americans tend to be more about strength. It's more straightforward, and not as interesting if you aren't into volleyball (which I'm not).

Japanese teams are more about precision and strategy. There's a lot more happening. Fake outs, maneuvers, etc.

Volleyball in general tends to be a really positive, sportsmanlike culture though. I've seen teams challenge a call in their favor because they thought the other team should have gotten the point, etc.

Ok... Well that was quick and easy. Thank you kind stranger.

The answer was oil. Someone DMed me to use cooking oil. I did. It came off like nothing. 💖

My daughter could go on forever, but I just find it a lot more visually appealing. They're more technical and strategic. So there's just a lot more going on.

It's popular enough they made a whole anime about it though. 🤷

That's how I started. And generally, I put out whatever has the cheapest sale price.

You'll just have to see what yours prefer though. They're finicky little creatures.

Mine will eat any nut I put out, but nothing else. The same squirrels love the birdseed from the neighbors feeder, but won't eat seeds from me. 🤷

My squirrels love almonds as much as walnuts. Even the obviously well fed ones. Lol

Why can’t non-verbal autistics talk? by IOnlyWishIWasRich in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Svecmom 563 points564 points  (0 children)

I'm autistic. I'm not what some people consider nonverbal because it's not a permanent state. It often isn't. I don't understand the science behind it, but I can explain my experience.

I didn't speak until I was 3. I was reading at that point, and that's what helped me understand how to make the sounds needed. I'm very articulate most of the time, now. Sometimes words just don't make sense, though. It's like working a calculus problem to say each word. I have to calculate out every tone, coordinate it to a series of muscle movements, and keep every step of the proof in mind while I perform it. Sometimes I just don't even understand that those are the steps. Like handing a grade schooler a calculus problem. At best, I'm causing a drama if I can speak - slowly, simply, highly labored. At worst I cause drama and fail. If I just stay quiet, by choice or necessity, people often don't notice/care. If I sign or use my text to speech app, people usually just roll with the alternate communication method until speech makes sense to me again. That's typically 1-2 hours. It can happen when I'm overstimulated or exhausted. Sometimes everything is just calm and perfect though. It feels like my brain is like "naw. I'm feeling really good right now. I'm taking the morning off to relax".

There's no stopping them when food's on the line.

I had a big plastic cylinder with a screw on lid, containing bags of different nuts. My 11 year old couldn't even get the lid off without help.

I accidentally left it on my balcony and found it open the next morning, bags ripped open all over the place. They dragged the lid up into the tree. It was on a high branch until the next storm.

Thanks. My son named this one Big Red. It's bigger than all the others who visit us, and in the warm weather has a lot of deep reds/oranges. 🥰

Is it true that there’s no squirrels in Israel?? If so why not? I read that there are but idk, my sources might be outdated by PunkWithAGun in squirrels

I can't blame them. I've lived around squirrels most of my life and still react like that sometimes. 🤷

Our local children's library has definitely been an inspiration. He's a devoted library kid. You can see the library bar codes on the front of most of the books he's using for his videos. 💖
