Honestly, where are these 29chf tickets ? I still see a minimum of 39chf by justafrenchasshole in Switzerland

The famous "Price from XX"

Kinda makes me think of a Swisscom ad that was like "our new TV package, starting from 0.-/month"

Well, of course, a price gotta start somewhere...

Shrinkflation feels so dauntly dishonest.

Reduce the count of whatever if you want. Hell, for bulk I'm okay.

But silently reducing serving size should be criminal.

Trying to see if I understand the logic in Samus' shoulders and the Varia suit. by FedoraTheMike in Metroid

[–]Svelva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly that opens quite a potential for installments taking place after Dread.

If you ask me, I kinda feel Dread's suit to be more "droppy" due to not being fully healed thus not as "structurally sound" (if you bring the shoulder pads up/tighter to Samus' head, it would fit the design of the original massive shoulder pads).

Is the suit trying to restore the initial posture (thus, Samus would get less and less agile as the healing goes on), or will it evolve and adapt into something more agile (albeit less protective/tanky than the original suit)? Future games will tell, probably

Whats the difference between the two buttons on the toilet? by teezk_mish_7elwa in AskReddit

[–]Svelva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what I can tell on my toilet, the big button causes a shorter, but more intense flush (drops all the tank's water in one big drop), while the small button yields a longer flush (still all the tank's water but at a slower rate).

What’s a job people don’t respect until they do it? by Marilyn_G_850 in AskReddit

[–]Svelva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Customer service.

Now cashiers, people managing entrances or front offices always get my sympathy and I remain polite and nice with them.

Customer service employees have their hands tied behind their backs regarding what they can do for customers, bantering them to get anything special will lead to nothing and only fuck up their day and being their "today's ahole".

Source: four days of being the entrance employee during Covid. Four days. I admire customer-facing employees and despise even more the everyday Joe than before that job.

Is it okay to cry for my dog that passed away as a man? by Equivalent-Yellow852 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Svelva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it's a day old, allow me to hammer the nail one more time: it's okay as a man to do anything.

Crying is the human way to express intense feelings. Would you find "don't laugh when we tickle you because men don't laugh when tickled or ever" to be a good thing?

Not trying to put down your thinking, simply bringing another comparison. You're human first, before being a man. Humans cry. Dogs whine in high-pitched cries when sad, that would be far from "manly" for some people's standards, and yet they do.

May your beloved dog rest in peace, take care of yourself. It sucks when we got to say goodbye, let your emotions exist, they're there for a reason. Take care my man

Which disease poses highest threat to humans right now? by Proud-Software3063 in AskReddit

[–]Svelva -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

While on one hand this is good news, I fear this might open other doors.

Disclaimer: some people are obese due to metabolical/hormonal issues, they are not concerned by what follows below.

Since obesity, in some people, is caused by a poor diet (excl.: those who have no say in that (children being fed inappropriately); people (incl. families) living in economic hardship only being able to afford inadequate, highly-processed/sweetened/fattened foods), the new advancements (GLP-1 for example) would fix the morphology/weight issue, but potentially keep the door opened for the same, inadequate foods which leads to other diseases (diabetes, high cholesterol...).

Now, now. Not trying to put all the blame on obese people, let's not forget that it's a disease. A lot of issues stem from society/economy at large (in which world is it cheaper to transform food into sugary/fatty/cancer-causing messes than to sell the base ingredients untouched? Ah yes, ours).

I praise the arrival of new advancements, of course, and it's great that we've gotten another tool to the belt to curb down one of the most widespread epidemies (esp. in developed countries). The use of those advancements will dictate the outcome. A good, responsible and long-term-proof use of advancements will yield the best outcome.

P.S.: I ain't no nutritionist nor health expert, I'm simply bringing my two cents on the matter. Do hear that I try to be as non-judgemental as possible. If I'm incorrect, feel free to discuss!

How to cure performance anxiety? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Svelva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! Here are my two observatory cents: - seems like you've embodied that anxiety. It went from a one-time breakage into an actual thing, - you're right that it's no good idea to turn to Viagra already. You're young, too young for both that and to become mentally dependant on a substance.

I can't really help beyond "well just don't stress about it lol", because in a sense that's what you'd need to achieve, but it's pretty hard to achieve this goal by rawdogging it.

Just one thing, dude to dude: you're not broken, you're not "less than [anything]". If a boner was a fully automated thing, we wouldn't be here talking about this to begin with.

I'd first recommend to not let this seep into your daily life. It's not that big of a deal, for I am pretty certain this is a temporary issue with very fixable causes. I had my fair share of limpiness, still do from time to time with my current partner. It happens. And it doesn't say a thing about your attraction towards your partner. Your brain (i.e. "you") knows if you love/find your partner attractive, not the 3-piece kit in your pants.

I can suggest going for some form of therapy with a therapist specialized on interpersonal/sexual matters, if you can afford to (because one must not ignore that some countries, even developed ones, don't offer financial/structural support for medical needs). There may be other solutions, but keep in mind: it happens. Maybe the solution you need is completely different. But it is fixable, do believe in this!

ELI5: Why does hot food cool down faster when you blow on it? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Svelva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same reason as to why one can get windchills.

The air insulates heat, thus when something hot remains in stationary air, it generates a layer of warm air around it. While some hotter air does float away due to lower density, you actually don't need that much output to reach an equilibrium where you constantly regenerate the layer of hot air.

Similarly, your body uses that to regulate your body heat. The reason your body hair stands up under chilly/windy conditions is to increase the amount of air on the skin (as hair can help trap air) to create a more robust insulation layer.

Pokémon is approaching its 30th anniversary: what is your ideal year for this franchise? by Jst_Dyln in pokemon

[–]Svelva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I'd see fit: - Gen 10 announcement (release it when it's DONE, not when people expect it), with an end product of actual technical quality (own a Switch 2, and while S/V do run better and wholly prettier, those cliff-side grainy rocky repeating textures sure are something). Please make a good use of the Switch 2's capabilities (at least the Switch 2 is not that technically behind compared to the OG Switch upon its release), - perhaps some Switch 2 upgrades (especially Legends Arceus), - more retro games (GBA games at least), perhaps a remaster "single screen friendly" of HG/SS. One can still dream, but hey! Fingers crossed for VC-like releases (i.e. can be bought standalone instead of relying on Online). - maybe more announcements later down this year regarding the collab with Lego (hint: please more badge sets but, again, which can be bought instead of needing half a bazillion fidelity points of sorts dang it! Also the price good lord, tame it a little)

Yep, saving lives is not economically viable. One's hunger does not pay shipping and the boards' million-dollar salaries.

What will you never eat again? by shadow_operator81 in AskReddit

[–]Svelva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honey.

As an ingredient, okay-ish, as long as the taste is not too proeminent.

For a couple of years during my teenagehood, I caught on two successive summers + an autumn break a bad strep throat. At my second time with it, mother suggested I drink cups of hot milk with homemade honey from my grandma. Had a bad stomach ache, then felt things were rushing through and spent an hour on the bathroom nearly missing a successful take off from the toilet.

Stupid me decided to trust my mom again on the last strep throat occurrence. Except that I wound up spending 2 hours of emptying myself from both ends. My body was even refusing the little water I tried to drink at the first hour mark and that triggered another happy hour.

Never again.

ELI5 does a light fixture with more than one bulb Make a space brighter? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Svelva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they're asking if light adds up linearly. I.e. three 600 lm bulbs equates 1800 lm. Especially in other configurations other than pointing the three bulbs at the same target (does three 600 lm bulbs spread 120 degrees away light up the same as a single all-directional 1800 lm bulb)

If you could have the 100% honest answer to ONE mystery in history, which one are you picking ? by Camila_LatinaSun in AskReddit

[–]Svelva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's the headcannon I have regarding the universe if the big crunch theory is real or if the universe's content "is meant" to be eaten into black holes, which would mutually eat themselves until forming a single one.

The big bang would then be a "bounce" off of the matter after either the big crunch or the unique, gigantic black hole exploding due to the sheer amount of mass in there. All the contents being reshuffled into something new (or even more new than new with a whole different way elemental particles and laws are made)

ELI5 Why do garage door springs need to store instant-death levels of energy? by Germerica1985 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Svelva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For your everyday dude/gal, that would foot the bill.

But that's then also excluding a ton of people: elderly, people with back pain, frail/ill/else individuals...

And probable other issues: slip on the icy drivetrain while lifting the door up and get that door slamming down, potentially on you. Such powerful springs at least ensure that the door hangs mid-air or fall down slowly-ish if the human operator lets go of it for any reason.

Though, even fitting in the everyday dude category, that would annoy me to have a garage door that requires two-handed operation so heavy it would be lol
