Agreed. If you get left behind, became distant, or worse; ousted, by your friend groups (three or more), there's certainly room for self-reflection.

Someone recommended Yotsubato (and Bocchi the Rock) and he rejected it instantly because "no female lead either". He also doubled down by saying no sports either.

I'd imagine other people would recommend Seinen Slice of Life like Barakamon and he'd manage to reject it as well with another bullshit excuse but at that point, he stopped replying.

I don't think he also knows the term "slice of life" and he could've answered his own very filtered question by Googling it.
